i have pulled the head a few times on my lsj..it took me about 5 hrs with beer. gettin it off is easy. putting it back on is the pain in the ass cuz u have to pull the front cover to time the cams and all that good stuff.

you dont have to pull the front cover there is a tdc mark on the front cover for timing the engine

while not necessary, I would suggest removing the front cover to inspect the guides, as they have been known to break.

Have you done a dual pass endplate and swapped the Lam cores? another culperate for loosing coolant is the O rings on the cores, if its small enough leak it wont smoke.

I've checked all hoses and that, can't find where it's going. None in the oil and no white smoke. Is there anyway to check if hg is leaking?

Its a possibility that its the o-rings for the laminova cores in the intake manifold. But that can be pricey since GM sells them for like 16 doll hairs a piece and there are 8 of em. Head gasket would be cheaper and I do have a brand new gm one for sale

i have the head off my lsj now and ill have the new hg on thursday...ill do a quick write up on changing it for u all i also have the gm factory service manuals..
parts list
arp head studs (u have to replace the stock head bolts wen u take the head off cuz they have a torque to yeld spec. meaning wen they get torqued down from factory they stretch so if u reuse them u will end up breaking them or u will never get them tight enough and end up with the same problem again) the arp head studs r reusable and they give the head higher clamping pressure to the block.
u will need a head gasket (if u go a mls style u will need to coper spray it)
new intake manifold gasket
new exhaust manifold gasket

ill do the rest later but this should give u a good idea.

+1 on the head gasket minor leak into the combustion chamber, lived it for 5 years, low coolant every 20k miles.

Well finaly got my parts from ottp not sure y it took so long but...the car is back on the road and no low coolant problems so far..

It looks like the coating on the hg came off around number 1.
As far as silverg85 i think ur problem is the block casting problem. With as slow of a leak as u have.
