Stock Boost? why is my gauge off?

Stock Boost? why is my gauge off?

ok, i have had my 06 cobalt ss/sc for about a month now. i have been on this board for about 2 weeks now. i am thinking about many upgrades. i have seen that the CA stage 3 gives you 17-18 psi. i was pumped when i saw that because my gauge says i am getting 2.5-3 psi. i saw on this board that 12.5 is stock. why am i only seeing 2.5-3? is it the gauge or is the car only getting that much boost.

your gauge must be off... unless you never stomp it. You won't be at 12 psi always, thats max (depending on elevation)

by the way... you have a 2.0 LSJ supercharged, not the 2.0 LNF turbo lol wrong section

also I would suggest a lot of research on different things before just jumping in and buying an aftermarket staged kit.

well, i am in Michigan at about 1000 ft above sea level. I do get on it alot... but i never see a reading above 3.

well normally no matter the elevation you wont be that much off of the stock readings. Your gauge is probably off unless you feel like your car is pretty sluggish. Bring it into the dealer and have them check it out. The gauge is probably just being stupid like mine was (stopped reading all together lol)

well nvm if you only had the car a month you wouldn't know if it was sluggish or not lol....

bring it to the dealer anyway.

Also... does it slowly climb to 3psi... or does it shoot up to it then kind of freeze?

what gear do you see the psi in? probably a bad gauge check with the dealer

it climbs fast to 3. the car has *****, i mean it gets up and gos when it hooks up. it only has 20,000 miles on it. but in first gear i hardly see 1 psi.

its first gear its to short to see boost lol well at least for me. Put it in third and redline it and see what you pull

i have a g-tech and i have gone down the road with it. the g-tech said i crossed the line at 102mph and i never saw a reading past 3.... so i am thinking it is the gauge. ill go to the dealer tomorrow then.

True, it was the gauge now i have seen up to 13 psi.

ya im stock except for a cai and im hitting 13 psi right now im right above sea level so idk i use to only hit 12.5 so its not that much of a difference just figured id throw in my 2 cents haha

well mine is way off. i am hitting over 140 kpa, 21+ psi. ahaha. and thats at like 5,000rpm. when it goes over 140kpa the engines starts backing off. really crazy. it goes to the dealer on friday to find out what the hell is going on

oh and btw its stock
