Stock catback vs aftermarket

Obviously there will be some sort of a gain if I replace my stock catback with an aftermarket one, but I am just curious how much I could gain and is it worth $600?

Current Mods:
-2.7 on m62
-1.75 headers, 3 catted dp
-meth injection
-3 inch intake

This spring I will be running nitrous as well

it will def be worth the money.i got rid of mine because i got two exhaust tickets in a month.i have an electronic dump now so when i go to the track i can just open it up.but the gain is worth it n u can tune more agressivly with it cuz ur egt's wont be as high.

yeah you will definitely be helping your engine breathe a lot better especially with your mods. You can find used exhaust systems on here for cheaper than 600 or if you don't mind a little modification you can get one from mandrel bent exhaust for like 350 shipped.

Already looked into mandrel bent exhaust and haven't heard to many good things...you get what you pay for

Hahn is a nice 3", but pretty spendy. Same with vibrant, although it is too loud for most people. I think CTI makes a 3" as well, and I have heard good things about the ZZP exhaust, people say its almost as quiet as stock under low throttle conditions. I would imagine all the 3" catbacks to be loud at WOT, but that probably doesnt matter to most people.

Quieter the better. Hahn, ottp, and zzp are the finalists

Thermal R&D... Don't think they make it for the cobalt but here it is on an Ion Redline. 2.5"

Ark Dt-S is a nice system too. I can't find a video for the supercharged cobalt

If you're going for quiet, definitely go with Hahn. I have a SS/TC with a full 3 inch Hahn catless turbo back. My car is turbo so it will be noticeably more quiet than yours would be but they still sound really good and the quality is great.

Nice. Good luck with the install. You're gonna have to cut your stock exhaust. Just letting you know now.

You can't remove the stock catback and keep it in one piece

Maybe you can but I know when I did it I didn't see any way you could remove it in one piece.

Yeah I actually just removed my stock exhaust by cutting it by hand with a hack saw! That was a major major major PITA. I am running the side exit exhaust from Jannetty racing and Clear Image's catless downpipe. It sounds really mean, but I am not sure I will keep this set up for long because I feel like I am just asking to get pulled over with the obnoxious noise my car makes during cold start ups...Might go with the hahn cat back eventually so my car is a little more legal, lol...
