Stock on E85?

So if anyone has anything to do with anything in the car world these days, we all know of E85. Alot of my friends use it in their DSM's with huge success, and from what I can gather, LSJ's seem to like the corn just as much. But just outta curiousity has anyone ever used in on a relativley stock LSJ? Or does anyone that has experience with the corn have an opinion on what it might do for it? I know it wouldnt be anything big, but I think it would be cool to see the results, or some input on what it might do.

Injectors, tune and fuel filter change shortly before or after is always a good idea. You can not run e85 without larger injectors and a tune though.

There would be HUGE benefits to a stock car running e85, even on a stock pulley. It's great because there are no longer timing restrictions with e85. Wanna run 25 degrees of timing, but you are knocking at 19 degrees on a 2.6 pulley at 5k rpms? No problem, switch to e85. Want to have a TON of mid end timing for huge power increases? No problem, switch to e85.

Even a stock pulley m62 car would have amazing gains with e85 and would be very fun on an autocross course because iat2's would be low, but power would still be high.

I would bet my left nut that a stock pulley e85 car will beat a gm stage 2 car any day =P

I was thinking about doing 60's and 93/100 octane tune, but I think I am going to do 80's and run e-85.

When you run 80's is it a flex-fuel thing? Like I can run 93 or e-85, or only e-85? Dumb question, I know, but I've never looked into e-85 until a few days ago.

u can only run e85

the tunes will be totally different. the octance rating is what is allowing you to run more timing. e85 is like 110 octane, or even more depending on the time of the year. this means you can throw tonnes of timing at the engine, but this also needs more fuel (hense the 80# injectors).

Now if you were to put 93 in on ur e85 tune, you would succesfully create an engine that just floods its self and most likely doesnt run/wont run for long due to dumping loads of dino fuel in the car.

See my thinking was that it would be around the same performance as alot of GM stage cars, but stock other than the injectors and tune of course. But i wasnt really sure since i really dont have much experience personally with E85. I think once spring comes around again I might play around with this. Again just outta curiousity for the most part. And also after 80s and a tune, mabey play with some pullies and other bolt on goodies.

It's not a good idea to run 91-93 on an e85 tune nor is it a good idea to run e85 on a 91-93 tune. If you do you run the risk of flooding or under fueling your motor which isn't worth it. Just simply switch your tunes with hptuners or run one or the other.

I tuned a E85 car to 292/248 with just a 2.9" pulley, FMHE and exhaust cut out.

Very nice, yes the m62 car is capable of 300whp on e85 for sure, off of it is difficult.

Wow thats really impressive!!!! This is really making me want to go this route. I just wish there were more stations around me that have it. Does anybody know of a place that sells it by the barrel? i wouldnt mind getting a barrel of it and have it at my disposal instead of driving 50 extra miles to get the stuff.

I don't know of any place that sells it by the barrel. Your best bet for that would be to purchase a container that fits in your car/trunk and then take it to the gas station and fill it up. You could also fill up any and all small gas cans you have etc and then use that.

You use roughly 30% more e85 then you do regular gasoline, so expect your gas mileage to be worse. If you get 300 to a tank on regular 91-93, expect roughly 200 on e85.
