Stock LSJ engine, m62 locked up. Help please?

Was driving down to the store last week and suddenly heard a loud screeching, all engine lights came on and some smoke. Had it towed back to my house and my first thought was Oh S$@! piston or ring failure! So I started by pulling off the supercharger and the hub is completely locked. Rotors are torn up, seems like maybe one of the needle bearings blew up not sure. Can't even pull the rotors out of the housing it's pretty bad. So i'm pretty much calling it a total loss with the SC. Checking the head gasket tomorrow, already have it disassembled to the head. Is there anything else I should check?

Thanks Belvedere, reason I was checking was because I popped off the oil cap immediately afterward and there was a noticeable gas odor of some sort.

remove the intake manifold and clean it out. there are probably a bunch of metal shavings in there. also check the intake ports in the head for debris.

Ok guys, update time. I have it down to the block, the head is sitting on my work bench along with all the other stuff. Head looks fine, nothing hit the valves and it is square and level. The head gasket is actually ok, but it will be replaced regardless along with head studs. The supercharger popping caused my #2 rod to bend I believe. I can see the black mark at the top of the cylinder wall where it looks like #2 piston is making it up almost 1/4 inch less than the #3 piston. 1 and 4 are at top of block.

Did your SC not make any sounds indicating something wrong before locking up?

It did. I had never previously disassembled the supercharger, and I heard rattling. I took it apart and noticed that the needle bearings were almost bone dry. So I repacked them and it was running super smooth and then a month later kaboom.

nothing of any size can get into the engine through the lam cores and I doubt very seriously you bent a rod and you dident need to remove the head

LOL what a waste of money man you didn't need to go that far... I'm not there but as it was already said I don't think you bent a rod. You shoulda done a compression test before you tore the head off
