On a more macro level, why ever would you discourage a vendor from putting more products on the market for this platform? Why would you be so short sighted?
^This.

I understand this is a big investment to most people on here, but I would never complain about a company wanting to bring new products to consumers. A $1650 crank for a cobalt isn't going to be something that is mass produced, he may keep 1 or 2 in stock at a time. He might just have it drop shipped to your door, especially with it being a custom product. It isn't like he is going to order 100 of them and sit on back stock for years. To say that any advancement by a vendor for any platform is a waste, is a very naive statement. Just about any new product for a platform is a good thing for everyone, even if you will never use it. Do you think ZZP develops some of their products in anticipation of them being useful to the majority of their customers?

You are never going to be able to please everyone at the same time. I just don't understand the objection to innovation. How do you know he isn't working on another product that you are interested in, but not many others are? Would you complain then, and say don't research or produce it because others aren't interested?

Which connecting rods would be best to use with this crank? Would I run stock compression pistons with more displacement? How soon will this be available?

Sorry I'm with stone on this one. R&D costs money. It doesn't pay to develop a product for a small handful of people.
Josh you've came out with several things that will be good sellers lately. I don't see this being one of them.

You could run an le5 rod and piston but it has a smaller and weaker pin. Lsj rods with a custom piston would be a better bet. Figure about $50 more than regular diamond pistons.

Trend performance Has 20mm wrist pins that will handler 200+ HP a cylinder.

The Lsj used a 23mm Pin
L61 & le5 use a 20mm pin

Guesses on max RPM potential with a 2.4L setup?

I'm just a huge fan of revving the crap out of things, so adding stroke, especially on a little engine, never seems worth it to me. I don't see it not working still, but would 8K+ be manageable with the 2.4 stroke?

I've been spinning my 2.4 Lsj to 7k. Seems to run butter smooth

I think it would be cool if you did come out with a crank.. but I just feel you could put more money/time/effort into something else.
not many people use a 2.4 crank due to inter change ability needing a lsj flywheel in 6 bolts is hard yo com by

its just stronger

2.4 or lsj there is only .006 in length difference

7k on a 2.4 is only 22m/s piston speed which isn't too crazy at all

8k is still only 26m/s which is a little quick but still not dangerous imo

That's a bullshit comment. His posts here were thought out and had reasoning.

Anyway, this whole thing depends on if you're looking at it from a business standpoint, or customer.

Of course everyone is gonna pop a nut at thought of a forged 2.4 crank. Of course you want one. But how many would actually buy one. 2-3%? Maybe if he's lucky.
When you look at it from a business point of view, it's simply not worth it. Not in this cheap ass market.
Everybody wants everything for nothing. There are only 2 people in this thread that I believe would actually buy one. That's not enough.

And THAT is why this thread was made to ask for interest and opinions. To see if it's a worthwhile project.
Not to see how many people can get excited over something they'll never buy.
