Supercharge coolant pump
ok so i got tuned bout a month ago and when i was getting tuned the tuner noticed my iat2 temps werent going down like theyre supposed to. he figured it was the pump and when he checked he noticed that my fill cap was empty. we filled it with water and checked for a flow... he saw nothing. so he then tried hitting it to see if it would work and it still didnt.
ok so ive taken it to the dealership twice now to get the pump replaced. the first time they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it so i took it back and checked daily to see if they were right or if i just missed something. well i still saw no flow and i even put my ear to the pump to see if i could hear some type of flow/movement going on... still nothing. its at the dealership again and they told me the same thing they told me the first time... that their is nothing wrong with it.
my question to you guys is, how can i for sure tell if its working or not?

well then I wish you luck. The pump should turn on about 10 sec after ignition. If the techs can't see the flow then they're not very observant....
edit------------
or they think the vibration from the engine is flow, still not very bright

lol thats what i told him! he told me they performed tests on the pump and when i asked him what kind, his answer was... they tested the car when it was cold and hot and he said they felt no power loss, also they checked the computer for any codes... i was kinda pissed haha
Tell them that you are 100% certain that it is the pump, that you had a High Performance Shop look at it to confirm. If they want to test the pump by itself, its a simple 12v system that they can take out and hook up to a power source.
Say things like, "If you swap out the pump, I guarantee you that I won't be in here again any time soon for this problem. Trust me on this."
It is a very common problem. Hell, you can probably even show them this site and search Intercooler pump problems.
Otherwise, go on ebay and buy the Ford Racing version... its exactly the same brand & model (Bosch)... only much much much cheaper.

They really have no way of detecting that its not working. I was lucky enough to have a Service Manager that realized that I knew more about this car than he did.

oh i also told him it was a very common problem among the supercharged models and he checked the database for a bulletin on the pump and found nothing so that didnt help haha
but im definitely gonna tell him what you said bout swapping out the pumps if he still tells me that there is nothing wrong with my pump.
yeah def the pump same thing happened to me when i went down there to el paso when stevo tuned everyone the first time. my iats were off the chart went home and checked and there was no flow when i checked it. bought a new one and it was good to go. kinda a pain in the ass getting the old pump off but once i did it was smooth install

Yeah. It was about 3 years ago to the date that I took them my Stg2 kit for them to install. They told me that I'd be voiding the warranty by adding a Supercharger to my car.

kinda sucks knowing that the guys working on your car dont know what exactly is in em haha
Nah, I just bugged the **** out of mine on a constant basis (in a nice way) and became friends with the service manager. They/he eventually realized that I knew a hell of a lot more about that car.
Of course... that was then. I'm out of warranty now and have a 50trim sitting on the back of my engine. There isn't much I'd take it to them for any more. Haha.
