Supercharger muffler delete?

ok it sounds like a dumb question but what do people mean when they muffler delete? dont it decrease your hp? and backfire into your motor?

cut ur muffler off and juss put a straight pipe....dont do it on the supercharged cobalt it will be loud as hell....like annoyingly loud !!!!
