Quick question, What material is this made of?
Steel or Aluminum?

As an aside...
Who uses aluminum for exhaust components? Its not really good for much in the exhaust system. Hell, I keep melting steel flex pipes, aluminum would stand no chance.

I wouldnt do that! When you torch a hole in the downpipe, fragments or dripage of the metal remain in the pipe, when you weld the O2 bung in, and then install the sensor, those fragments can distrupte the flow of the exhaust gas over the head of the sensor and possibably providing incorrect a/f ratios. Have the exhaust shop drill the hole out then have them tack the O2 bung and then connect via a weld so that no fragments of dripage leak down into the pipe causing the sensor not to read correctly.
