timing?

ok so im about to time my engine i lined up the mark on the balancer and timing cover, removed the cover(crank sprocket mark was at 5 o clock), i put the intake cam at 2 o clock and im about to put the exhaust sprocket on at 11 o clock. im just unsure if i did the break down correct. when lined up the balancer and timing cover i didnt check if i had compression so could my engine be 360 out and on the exhaust stroke instead of the compression stroke?

I believe they give you a break down of steps in the build book. The link has PDFs of the 6 chapters. I used this as well as the Cobalt Haynes manual and Alldata when reassembling my engine. Used all of them in tandem so I can't say which was best for what part of the process, although this may help. So check it out. Been about a year since I timed the LSJ, can't remember the exact steps I took, don't want to steer ya wrong.
