Timing Chain/Timing Belt (Whatever they have)

So what's the average mileage that you should get it replaced in a ss/sc?

I don't know that the chain should ever need to be changed. I highly recommend changing the stock tensioner out for the new design tensioner though.

The stock, original design tensioner is prone to failure... and when it fails, not only is you chain then loose, but the tensioner has a habit of falling apart, dropping parts into your bottom end.

Well I tought my 05 was safe until 4 days ago when a rattle started. I have 76k. It has gotten worse so I parked it yesterday when I diagnosed it so I dont have to do any head work. I sourced all the parts from rockauto for $160 ship.t including oem tensioner, chain, 3 guides and gasket set. Better to replace everything since I do a lot of high revs. My bro in law went 300k in his 1994 silverado before he changed the chain. It is the belt that you really have to worry about after 100k.
