Tranny Fill ?

Hey all, does anyone know if there is a spot in an 06 ss/sc g85 with the LSD to top up or fill the transmission fluid. One of my axle seals is leaking fluid very slowly and i want to top it up becaushe I don't have the money for a new seal right now. I checked the owners manual and it only said to take the car into the dealer for service and refill. I'd rather just top it up myself for now. But where at ?

I really dont see the plug at the top of the tranny. There is WAY to much in the way on an ss/sc to see ANYTHING. For that matter. I dont now if in fact the G85 / LSD tranny is even the same as the other trannies a cobalts comes with. I can't even run G.M syncromech. My car takes some other rare kind of fluid the dealer has to order and it cost $28/ 1L. I don't think my tranny is the same for fill and drain ? Anyone know for sure ?

All the Cobalt SS/SC and SS/TC transmissions have the same housing. The drain and fill plugs should be in the spots shown in that how to as well as here:

Transmission Fluid Replacement

Important:

• The manual transaxle is filled with fluid at the manufacturer and requires no routine oil changes. If it is determined that the fluid needs to be changed due to contamination or a similar issue, follow this procedure.

• To ensure that all sediment within the transaxle is suspended in the fluid, the fluid should only be drained after it has reached a normal operating temperature of 88-93°C (190-200°F). Normal operating temperature is reached after approximately 25 km (15 miles) of highway driving.

Position vehicle on hoist and raise vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
Caution: The transaxle fluid is hot. Caution must be taken to prevent personal injury when the transaxle fluid drains from the transaxle.

Remove the transaxle drain plug (1).
Remove the transaxle level plug (2).
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Clean and apply thread sealant P/N 21485278 to the drain plug (1) and install.
Tighten
Tighten the transaxle drain plug to 50 N•m (37 lb ft).

Using a funnel with a flexible spout or a quart bottle hand pump, add manual transaxle lubricant through the level plug (2) opening until fluid flows out.
For the correct fluid recommendation, refer to Lubrication Specifications .

Clean and apply thread sealant P/N 21485278 to the level plug (2) and install.
Tighten
Tighten the transaxle level plug to 50 N•m (37 lb ft).

The SS/SC fluid is Saturn part number: 21018899
The SS/TC fluid is GM Part No. 88862472 in the US and 88862473 in Canada

I have royal purple synchromax. It is the closest to the gl-4 75w-85 lubricant.
