Trifecta vs HP Tuners.

So. I want to get one or the other.

HP Tuners lets me buy a kit which lets me do the tweaks, dl new tunes and get support from the HP Tuners forum.

Trifecta does not to my knowledge do that. I hear its highly recommended though. So I buy the program tuned to my car based on their knowledge of the car in question. I either buy a cable and keep it for further tunes, or pay a charge thats refunded once I return it. Am I to understand it is literally 250 per tune? How does that work? If so it seems Trifecta is more of a lamens version.....meaning if you dont know how to tune, let them do it (ala diablosport for the mustang I used to have).

If I get Trifecta for my mods below.....will I see better gains than say HP Tuners? Suggestions? educate me!

I guess it really comes down to how much hp you wanna make. Trifecta is really good I have it myself for my 2.4. However if I had the ss/sc like you I would find a good tuner who knows his stuff and use hp tuners. Good luck man!

I say hptuners... truthfully it will cost u less in the long run.. if you find a good hptuner... he is not going to charge u $250 every time u do a little something different to your car and want the tune tweaked..

nothing against Vince.. i heard he's great... but for me.. that was too pricey I bought hptuners myself wanting to learn but still haven't had time, but to me i also now have a great tool to help me diagnose issues as they come up with my car, as well as for my wifes suburban.

My tuner is actually tuning me remotely, i data log and send to him he makes adjustments...works good for me
oh and doesn't cost me $250 every time i change something

I did some more looking. You will get charged 75 plus shipping for a minor tune change, or the full 250 plus shipping minus a 15 percent discount if you do something more major. So I suppose if you change to a high flow dp with or without cat...would that be minor and perhaps a pulley change be major? I have to admit it is appealing to have the ez flash datalogging available. This from what I gather will allow you to log your runs after the tune and they will adjust it for your car. I dont know if you get charged again or if this is in the initial tune you purchase? I can see that as a solid benefit if you dont wanna go to a dyno and need a more.....refined tune.

I really don't understand why people have this debate; People somehow think that one or the other has some sort of magical power to make more magical horsepower that you'll end up inflating with your ego before you post here anyway.

HPTuners provides a very good set of tools, for tuners that know how to use them.

It comes down to who do you trust to tune your car? After all, each of our cars still has the same set of parameters we can adjust, HPTuners and Trifecta use the same methods of changing them.

Personally, I trust my local tuner over Vince. I don't have to wait for Vince to send me files back and my tuner can dial in my tunes faster because he's physically in my vehicle logging the data.

Vince does seem to have the edge on access to new and not so popular vehicles however, I'm sure he's a good tuner but I'm happy with my local method.

its prefrence really. ive seen HP tuned cars pull on trifecta ones. and ive seen trifecta ones pull on hp tuned ones. all with similar mods. ironically the best tune you could get is a hp/trifecta combo. lol

Well my car uses a HP tune right now (tweaked ottp stage 2 file...no fuel adjustments...so its pig ass rich)

I am leaning towards trifecta......as I am not qualified to tune my own car and I am not sure I want to. This is not a argument or anything....just want opinions and input.

For the LSJ you are best to get a tune from HPTuners. You can usually find someone near you that can tune. If you can't find someone to do HPTuners then Trifecta is the next best bet.

Agreed, my local tuner could out tune Vince anyday.

There would really be no reason.

The reason people get the combo tune on the LNF is so that they can get cat warmup removed, the fuel pressure raised and the WG duty raised from Vince (since these cannot be changed with HPT) then do all the rest of the tuning themselves with HPT.

On the LSJ HPT has access to all the tables needed for tuning in pretty much any circumstance.

The one big thing that Trifecta has for the LSJ is that Vince can tune over the stage 3 PCM, where as HPT cannot.

They arent working out any bugs.

Vince is actually working on new features for GMS3 tunes. He has successfully unlocked the GMS3 tune with great results.

I was talking about HPT and GMS3, they've got support for it, but it's a little shakey.

Still wondering what support you had that was shaky, can you explain?

About to test HOM mode with Meth Shortly. Wonder how its going to run. Will try with and without at the track to see the difference.

Definately a fan of the GM3+Trifecta and being BYT tuned on top of it.

HOM runs great man. You will love it. I tested/logged my car while in HOM this past fall, and it ran better than ever.
