Tune on stock?

I've searched and only found one relevant thread (that had little to no useful info), is there any use in tuning an otherwise stock ss/sc? i know you can turn the fans on at a lower temp, change boost in 1st gear, etc. Are there any other positives? throttle response, tq, hp, etc.?

In short, you could gain like 10whp on a custom tune vs the factory in stock form

there is a lot that can be gained from tuning a stock car you can get rid of torque management get the afr dialed in better then stock set up the fans and the I.C. pump and get the hp up

ive seen stock retuned cars that would be door to door with a gmstg2 car a lot of it Is going to depend on who is behind the keybaord

Next question, for those of you out there that remote tune, is what would you look at charging for a tune like this? I'm thinking because it is much less work than a bolted car it would be less time or cost, but i don't have any idea what forum tuners would want to charge versus ZZP or other options.

Thanks for the help i've already gotten everybody.

Interesting. So I'm assuming that it would be equally beneficial if someone retuned a GM Stage II car? Keeping the injectors and pulley.

Custome hp tune will be better than canned gm tune.
Remote tuning with hp is expensive you have to buy the program to load the tune thats $400-500 alone. Not having bolt ons isnt gonna make much of a difference. But the thing you should know most is a stock lsj doesnt have a wideband so it is difficult at best to remote tune an lsj, its do-able but best done in person.
Best bet is to find your nearest reputable hp tuner and drive to them even if many hours away, a good tune on a stock car should net a noticeable difference.

yessir... gm stage 2 runs rich... couple changes and you can see a nice bump in power with the stage II pulley and injectors.

I stock tuned the Redline when we first got it. Raised the rev limiter and fans on and all the above mentioned.

Raced my buddies car before and after. We went from dead even to gaining 2+ car lengths on him. Our car pulled better on the top end.

Mr B educating us again. Very cool info. Usually the stock tunes suck.
