Tuning question?

I know I will get flamed big time for this, but I was wondering where people learn how to tune. I am an ASE master certified auto tech but I don't know the first damn thing about tuning! I can diagnose and fix **** all day long but I really want to learn how to tune because there is so much more i could do to my car! Can anybody help me?
Thanks I appreciate all comments, other than flames that is

Gotta run the risk of blowing up your car in order to learn. but yeah trial and error is the main part of learning.

Read a lot of sites, not just Cobalt specific. You can learn a lot from the DSM crowd.

There's an advanced engine management book written by Greg Bannish I think? You can pick it up at barnes and noble.

if you buy the program new, it will come with 8 GM credits. each vehicle is 2 credits to license or you can unlock a model year for 6 credits. but once you unlock the particular car, its unlocked forever

yeah, you buy credits. but you options to purchase licenses that cover a single car or all cars of that make/model year. so thats nice. greg's book is a great read. Lots of good info in that. Engine Management: Advanced Tuning by Greg Banish. After that you can go to thetuningschool.com guys name that runs that is Bob Morreale or take Greg's course at calibratedsuccess.com Both places have several options to learn. And read all you can on hptuners forum.
