Turbo size

I plan on turboing my LSJ in the near future. I want to know whats the ideal size turbo for our cars. Which size turbo's are people running right now. I was looking into the 16g or 20g turbo's. any info will be nice with everything

Depends on your goals. IE: Power, Spool, etc.

your ball bearing turbos will spool quicker but the journal bearing like what i have is half the price. new there on ebay for around 650 i think and rebuilding them is cheap as well

Is it a T3... or is it a T4? I don't think Precision does T3/T4 Hybrids.

Well, no ****.

Are we talking 350whp, 400whp, 450whp, 500whp?

Are you willing to sacrifice spool/rpm's for more power?

gt3076 is about perfect for mid 3's to 4's.

The s256et seems to be a nice match too.

I'm making 375whp on 21psi with an S256ET, even more with 22psi.....

I'm going to change my housing from .70a/r to .55a/r to spool faster....

get a t3 turbo for sure, the t25 limits you as far as turbo manifolds go, and like stated above, its about what HP/Tq you want but even more specific WHERE you want your powerband, low end/ mid/ high?

id go with a 3071/6r if you have the money, as JC said it makes the mid 300's to 400 power that most LSJ guys are going after, and it makes it in a usable spot for a daily driven car

Very true, 3076R is a nice turbo. I think bullseye makes an S252 that would be comparable too.

S256ET .70a/r. Making 375whp at 21psi, made 403 at 22psi (did that run for ***** and giggles then backed it down to 21psi again). Bad thing is it doesn't fully spool until just before 5k, which is why I'm about to switch out to a .55a/r. Spool will be much faster and still hold the same power.

gt3071r jannetty racing says it puts down 330whp/340wtq @ 22 psi with a 4000rpm full spool

it'll be going on the dyno shortly for some tweaking ... am just out of town right now, once i get back hopefully one day next week we'll have time to put it on the rollers.

at 28-30 psi (complete accident) it broke loose at 75-80mph in 3rd lol

Really? That seems very low for 22psi, in comparison to the other 2 or 3 Cobalts that I know of that ran that turbo. VERY low. Spool seems about on par, I suppose.

I'm pretty sure he has an LSJ...
I haven't got numbers on my car yet, they were also talking about 19 psi so I may have them mixed up...

This is also the 2.2 Garrett kit modified to fit an lsj, so it may be lower cause of the manifold
