TVS Question...

Ok, cool. I frankly wouldn't recommend the bare minimum setup to anyone. Not enough cooling or air flow.
I think the bare minimum should include intake, exhaust, and at least a larger heat exchanger. That is of course in addition to the 60#'ers.
EGT and A/F sensors are a must in my book.

Can we get a damn sticky already!!! My FAQ would stop all these threads....
And no, now new boost gauge is needed because w/ proper exhaust you drop from 20 down to 17-18psi on the stock pulley. That's all you need to get started with the TVS. No one needs to be running a smaller than 80mm pulley until they have ran an 80mm pulley. Not everyone gets the concept of tuning the TVS

one thing that confuses me is why is the cooling so important when everyone says that the TVS is more efficient and runs cooler at boost? I mean if your IAT's are actually cooler at boost i would say that more cooling is LESS mandatory. Don't get wrong, i still say it's a necessity but if it came down to exhaust or cooling i would say the exhaust is the more important of the two......is this incorrect?

running it at lower boost levels really doesn't pose a threat at all as far as temps. But the power really isn't going to be there because of our lack of displacement. Problem is that power that you have everyday gets old after a little bit, and you want more.(moar)
Think of it this way. If the blower was designed to displace 1.0L of air like the m62, then it would be more efficient and run cooler. But the blower displaces 33% more air than the m62, so they aren't really on the same playing field. There is supposed to be an r900 model, that would be more comparable to the m62. There you would realize the gains and efficiency you're asking for in a stock-like sized blower.
More air being forced in from a larger blower is going to cause more heat. And the stock cooling system is barely enough to keep the stock temps under control.

Temps climb fast with the TVS. People are getting their terms confused. It's more efficient but it is not cooler. My IAT2's usually sit ~15* above ambient. However my only cooling mods are OTT Heat Exchanger and distilled water/water wetter. With dual pass and meth which comes Saturday, they will drop a little more. However my IAT2's are usually below 150* even after 2-4th gear pulls.

I'm holding 17* on a 11.6 AFR. Just keeping things 'safe' for the time being. I'm going to the track Friday and I am going to look for some race fuel to bump timing up. Also, meth goes in Saturday, so even if I don't find race fuel, I'll be bumping timing up with meth. I'm looking for the car to hold 22-24* of timing.
