Dont have a tvs but when you say big powa hope your talkn about 350whp with lots of supporting mods like cooling, e85 or potent meth mix. For if your funds run dry just buying the tvs then you will be at the 300whp wall for awhile but in do time i assume you could keep throwing supporting mods at it to slowly make more. Either way you go, just research it and spend wisely.

yea, thats exactly the hp range im looking to get to. 350-400 range. so can i just swap the tvs for the m62 and have the car run fine? i know i wouldnt be getting everything out of the tvs but i want to know if it would hurt anything running it with at least just the cooling mods?

I see you're from Houston! Feel free to head over to www.GMofHouston.com

We are always willing to help.

350--400 is definitely in the upper ranges of the TVS's capability (at least on the LSJ), so you're going to need to do things right instead of looking to only do the bare minimum.

You can safely hit ~275whp on the stock intake/exhaust with some larger injectors and cooling mods though. That is about the lowest power you can expect from the TVS on the stock pulley. Definitely a good starting point if you plan to start from scratch.

If you want to make good power on the TVS you will want a full 3" exhaust, and to be tuned on E85 or meth if there isnt E around you. But as Pyros said you can start on on the stock pulley and stock exhaust with 60 or 80# injectors and a tune and always add to it

That is the same route I'm headed, so I can't wait to see how your car turns out.

Are you also switching to the griffin h/e?

Well as of right now, im not 100% stock. The only thing ive done is cai, magnaflow exhaust, strut bar, drilled n slotted rotors, and 2.8 pulley. Id be looking to build from scratch n gettin the tvs and the stage 3 kit from zzp. Or would you reccomend me goin a different route with the stage 3 kit?

Supporting mods are over-rated. All you 100% need are larger injectors (60#s+) and a tune. You don't need to waste your money on this useless stuff to make the car quick. Take advice on the people that have done it, not the majority of these people.

The only way you will make "big" power on a TVS is with E85. I wouldn't even bother on pump gas, be a waste to even buy a TVS.

Im looking to make 350-400 hp when im done. But the way things are looking as far as mods needed to get to that point, im gonna have to start from scratch and buy the cooling mods first. Then the tvs and get the other stuff as i save up more cash. Thats what make modding so worthwhile!

how to build a 400whp tvs lsj.

i did 380whp on mine {yes darky, 380}

3inch intake
tvs
2.6 pulley
80, or 98lb injectors
return system
255 fuel pump
surge tank
bosch 044 pump
SC specific cams
supertech 78lb valve spring kit
ported head, intake and exhaust side
neutral balance shafts
1 3/4 or larger primary header with a 3inch collector. burns stainless or equivalent
3 inch exhaust
3 in down pipe
bad ass tune
e85, or 110 octane fuel
a good heat exchanger. griffen core.

for added measure to hit it. 10.0:1 - 10.5:1 C/R.

you might be able to do it on stock compression

ask him why he deleted his thread and his dyno sheet that showed his car misfiring and knocking on the dyno.
