TVS sounds like marbles

I'm thinking coupler is done. doesnt seem to be losing any boost so I assume my rotors are ok.

Does the TVS use the same snout coupler as the M62?

best news I've heard all day So I can just pick one up from any of the vendors and slap it in there, or better yet, use one off the several M62 laying around

can you make of vid of SC making said sound? I get some funny noises sometimes too. I was wondering if it was coming from my TVS. I would like to hear yours to see if it is a similar to the sound that I've been hearing.

That kinda describes the noise I hear, however, mine doesnt make the noise all the time. Only sometimes. I heard the same noise when I had my M62 on as well.

My "marbles" are only heard at idle when standing in front of the engine. If you are hearing the noises otherwise, you have bigger problems. I will try to upload a video later. All I have is my cell phone to take vid though.

The TVS is ok, but I wish it produced more torque. The low end on this car is useless. Unless you have methanol, E85, or head work, it seems difficult to push much more than 300whp due to heat.

I had my TVS checked & repaired out at ZZP, found the needle bearings weren't greased that well. Sounded pretty loud, removed it and you could feel/hear a slight bump when spinning it by hand. Mine was bought second hand so who knows what had been done to it. I've seen some nasty rotor pics on another forum, may want to take a peak considering how easy it is to pull off.

I am at 312whp with 91 octane no meth. Mine does it only at idle too but only every now and then. I dont think I have a bigger problem, I believe it is that timing chain cover thing people keep referring to. I just wanna hear what yours sounds like to see if it is the same sound.

I dont wish to put methanol on the car again. I dont want to have to worry about tuning for it, and keeping the tank full. I would love to run E85 but it isnt to be found within an hour of me.

Maybe tomorrow I can take that vid. Unfortunately didn't get to it tonight.

maybe. just might have to get like a 50/50 mix or something. wont run straight water though. seems like a bad idea.

too expensive for me right now. and may be more $ than I care to spend anyways. but it does sound like a great idea :-)

The video of the noise. Cobalt SS with TVS blower - YouTube
It seems to have subsided a little since i added some s/c oil. I added a whole 4.5oz bottle to it and its still not to the fill hole. I don't know how much oil was in there but it didnt seem like much.
Anyone know how much oil the tvs is supposed to hold?

I checked it while still mounted on the car. I didn't pull it yet so thats a negative on the bearings. Waiting to get my garage empty so I can let it sit for a while if need be.

with it setting on the car the oil probably wouldent reach the fill plug because it is setting at an angle

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere too.

Fuel trims are good so i doubt theres a vac leak.
If the oil doesnt go as high as the fill plug, the rear rotor gear/chain wouldn't be getting oil... :-\

Regardless, I'm not putting anymore oil in than I already have. Seems to be fine now anyways.
