twincharged tvs

i haven't seen a twincharged with a tvs on here
though I could be mistaken..

I'm looking at getting the TVS (unless the twinscrew comes through) in the near future and i've been considering going twincharged with it

obviously supporting mods.. dual pass option b, h/e/dp/ heat exchanger, meth, cai..

With a good tune, possibly p&p head.. engine and tranny mounts.

Just wondering what other people might think about this sort of setup...
costly? yes.. worth it? maybe..
whp potential??

Thoughts? Considerations? Opinions?
Lets get to it..

Anything can be done with enough money. Question is will it actually be useful/worth the cost...
TVS makes power at higher revs, the purpose of the supercharger in a twincharge setup is to help spool the turbo, high revving TVS would sort of defeat that

I would recommend worry about a motor that can handle that much HP before you start with power adders.

I wouldn't do it personally. Go either supercharger or turbo because so far I haven't been too impressed with the twin charged setup's in terms of horsepower. Is it really worth the extra 2,000 bucks to get rid of a little lag considering most people don't really use a huge turbo on their car.

unless you build you motor and go for 600+ hp with no turbo lag there is no point
you just need a well sized turbo there is not much lag with my s252 extended tip

Isn't a smaller supercharger better for twincharged? The idea is to build power up quickly while the turbo spools up. The TVS is definitely not known for building power quickly down low.

Since the turbo takes over once it is spooled up, and the TVS only really shines in the upper rpms, it would be kind of a waste.

There are two ways to build a twincharged setup.

1. Bypass method like ZZP

2. Bypass method with a little overlap like the VW
YouTube - VW TSI twincharger

3. Compounded method like the Cobra guys sometimes do.

So it depends on how the kit is setup. But I still don't see how a TVS would be worth the money for anything less then 600whp.

I feel like a n00b :p
that's because I am.

So if one were to build up the engine components correctly....

You dont want to use the TVS, it is a waste. The M62 is plenty for a twincharge, I have seen it spool a medium frame turbo to 30 psi at 2k rpm.... Granted that was on a smaller pulley than recommended but that is basically what will happen if you put the TVS on.

True.

The M62 could spool the largest turbo by 4k.

Save the money and put it into the engine.

There's no point in getting a TVS to do that.

Regardless of the turbo size, as bristol said, the m62 could accomplish that.

The only way that would be feasible was if you had a turbo so insanely large that it would need something to flow a good deal down low.

Plus your rev range would have to be really high to get some range out of the turbo at full spool

So, yeah...., not worth it.

Amazing how the VW setup works. The blower feeds through the turbo, rather than the turbo feeding through the blower.

Basically OP, big waste of money. If you wanna twincharge stick with the M62, its plenty.
