Two Step Ignition?>
Two Step Ignition?>
Hey guys my name is Steve, I read the forums everyday trying to find new stuff for my SS/SC. Anyways, one of my friends has a MSD two step ignition. It allows him to step on the clutch and have a different rev limiter than when in gear, so he can get a better launch off the line... I was wondering if anyone new of a similiar setup i could possibly use on my Cobalt. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
go to http://www.racelogic.co.uk/?show=Traction_Control my friend has this on his M3 maybe that is what you are talking about

not really, what he's talking about is for launching cars at the strip. what it does is you can go WOT when the switch is flipped and it will only go to say 3000 rpm or whatever you set it for, then as soon as you get going you flip the switch and it goes to the normal redline. basically it just sets two redlines one for launching and the normal one
Well what if I didnt flip the switch? I gunned it off the line and IM guessing it would go to 3000 RPM's and just stay there, then shift and go to 3000 and stay there. That would be so strange....

seen it happen before at the strip, it's easy to tell when it happens and is usually followed by the driver beating something inside the vehicle with his fists and throwing his helmet on the ground when he gets out
no the way my friends works is off your clutch pedal... when the pedal is pressed there is a rev limiter set at like 3000 rpms then when its off and you mat the gas its normal redline

yeah that's a switch... it's just wired up to the pedals and isn't stuck on your steering wheel or shifter knob..... same principal
thats what the raclogic system does, its traction control, but you can get it with W.O.T. shifting and launch control. it works off the clutch for W.O.T. shift. when you push in the clutch, it drops the rev limiter so you dont have to let off the gas. and on the lauch control, you can set what you want the rev limiter to be. when you push the button, while the clutch is depressed, it wont let you rev above your preset limiter, then when you drop the clutch, it goes back to the factory rev limiter.
