Definitely not starting in 2nd. Even with the 4.45 final drive and stock height tires, Ryan is shifting 2-3 at 90 mph. That would be a pretty tall gear to start in.

Interesting you guys must 1-2 shift that car like there is flashing light in your rear view! Lol

ah ok...

for a cheap substitution couldn't people just buy the lnf sleeves and put them in an lsj or are there block differences as well? just asking out of curiosity cause i've already got dartons

The gen 2 blocks are reinforced in problem areas and lightened in others with a little more cooling passage capacity.

ok thanks for the info..

question on your kit for the lsj... it says it removes the stock cooler for the lsj, but an fmic is $1000 extra. is the basic setup assuming that the customers will do their own fmic?

The site isn't really set up right. I'm not sure if we will offer a kit without IC. I'd rather only offer complete kits. Any time we offer a kit with less parts included, tech support requirements quickly increase.

So get a used gen2 block and bolt an lsj head on it... Could it really be that simple?

You still need to worry about the rotating assembly. I am not sure how much those DI pistons would like none DI injectors.

And the LE5 comes with 6 bolt crank while the LSJ has an 8 bolt. So you would have fun matching a flywheel to a clutch to bolt up the trans.

Ryan will have a reasonable chance of being in the class that they choose. My Cobalt won't be able to run without a cage, so I'm going to be running my Grand Prix, which will be too fast for the field.

i used a set of prototype piston for the LSJ (which we should have done now or instock very soon) a set forged rods, oem headgasket, ARP head studs, LSJ cyl. head, some ZZP seasoning, bolt it all together on one engine stand equals sweet. Its really that simple.

Ryan,

Just curious why you guys didn't try to get more out of the twincharged setup. You were still on the stock head and stock cams, but with this new setup, it's all built.

Awesome! So in your opinion what should I do. Right now I'm about to go twincharge but I'm not sure. Can it be done without having a lot of issues for a weekend driver? I'm not looking for a ten second car, but this lag is killing me...

le5 is 6 bolt. lnf is 8 bolt. if you have a lnf block everything will bolt up right together. stop overthinking it!!!!

You can def. go twincharge without a lot of issues and keep it completely driveable. What size turbo do you have. If you have the porper setup lag shouldn't be that bad. With a porperly sized turbo, you can have an 11sec car with hardly any lag. Matt's LNF is a perfect example.
