Weird Problem

So I was out driving today everything was fine until I came to a stop. I floored the car in first and at around 5k the car would sputter and the exhaust sounded like a machine gun. It did this a few times so I turned the car off and tried to figure out what was wrong. Couldnt find nothing, no engine codes came up. So I drive it to my house and it still does it again in first, so I get on the highway and floor it in second and nothing. It only seems to sputter and sound like a machine gun in first. Any ideas what this could be? I was thinking spark plugs or clogged cat but I thought it would do it in all gears if it was that. Any help would be awesome.

are you spinning the tires and hitting the rev limiter? that's what it sounds like. the rev limiter comes QUICK in first, and the rpms don't always catch up to the actual speed

Wheel hop? Not sure why it would only do it in first if it was anything else...

What might be happening is that because 1st goes by so fast, you may be hitting the redline by accident, thinking that you still have another thousand rpms or so before you need to shift.

Wheel hop. Does it do it if you accelerate slowly to redline?

no it dont do it when I go slowly to redline. But I had wheel hop before and it never sounded like this. The exhaust sounds like a machine gun.

The stumbling would cause the exhaus to probly over rattle and make a weird noise...

I dont think the machine gun noise was anything itself going wrong.

Check the plugs, and use up all your gas real quick, refill it, through in some heet to raise the octane, and some fuel injector cleaner and see if it helps at all.

I think you should buy a meth kit lol but thats completely off topic. Actually not really, because if it was somehow bad gas even though its not because it wouldnt only be doing it in 1st gear lol, the methanol would help that immensely. You could run 89 with methanol and be just fine, its all in the tuning though.
