What Gauges Do i get for my ss s/c

Alright guys I have been told getting gauges is pretty important when you plan on adding mods to fully undertand what you cars performance is doing. I am asking this question because i'm very new to the technical side of things and need a little guidance. 1st what
kind of gauges should i buy and what is most important to monitor that my SS S/c stock Dosen't have readings for already? Second are they easy to install or should i find a shop to do the work? third what the heck is HP tuners I gather it has something to do with
Reprogramming the cars systems to enhance performance but is it a company,Tool, software! What is it.

Love fast cars but just ain't good at the tech stuff yet!

A Wideband A/F gauge would be good along with an Aeroforce interceptor and possibly replacing the sotkc boost gauge with a nice mechanical one for really good readings.

A/F gauge will be a great tuning tool and is higly recomended for super boosted and tuned engines.

Interceptor is a electronic gauge that plugs into your OBD 2 port. the port for diagnostics and ECU reprogramming.

Stock boost gauge will definitely be more accurate than the stock POS.

HPTuners is a company and a program. Its the program that allows you to custom tune the engine as you need to. Only someone experienced in using it should be tuning your car.

Sorry if i seen kinda stupid E i'm in unfamiliar territory with even what seems to be the most common this on this site. its gonna take me a while to understand everything.
Wish i could just pay someone to take car of hot rodding this car for me! but then i would just be driving it and not know what the mods are all about!

The stock boost gauge is fine. I'm not sure why some people are down on it but it's an autometer so it's not like it's junk.

Wideband air fuel ratio gauge is a must.

an interceptor is a nice gauge to have as it can help you monitor alot of things.

Some other things to consider or an Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge (EGT), oil pressure, fuel pressure, and nitrous pressure if you want to spray.

you should be able to read the "how to" section and install them yourself... or have someone who knows a little bit more to install them...

for tuning with hp tuners... find a shop that will do it but also show you how and what they are doing...

heres what you will probably need to buy

aem wideband
aeroforce interceptor

i can find the best deals on them if you are going to have the money within a few weeks

and get a 3 gauge pod to replace your stock one

NK, like cblt12 said if you hang around and do some searching on here you should find what you're looking for. There is a lot to be learned on here about modding the various types of Cobalts. Welcome to the site, and as long as you don't ask how to put a blow-off-valve on the supercharger we won't ridicule you for asking questions.

I love the Ingalls TD. The first time at the track ended at the 60' mark with a snapped axle due to wheel hop. The second time to the track I added GMPP Stage 2 and the Ingalls TD. Ten passes successfully down the track with nill to no wheel hop, and I drove the car home this time! I found the vibrations to be very minimal and almost unnoticable. Well worth the money to me after that!
