Question what mod next?

Ok all. I need more power! let me know what i should do next to maximize power for a few hundred dollars. Heres what i have:

06 ss/sc, G85, GM S2, Nates 2.9, dual pass +B, cxr h/e, sts, injen cai.

a. I dont want to go meth.
b. I dont want to go to a smaller pulley b/c i would then need 60# and tune...which exceeds budget.
c. Ive been considering zzp dp w/ high flow cat...but hear conflicting stories on hp gain.
d. i want to retain oem appearance of car.

Help spend my money.

get in on the zzp group buy. last group buy, i got my mid length header and downpipe for about 350 shipped, save something like $150 plus shipping. i love it, had no problems and sounds great.

We'll, i can surely help you. Send some money my way, i could use it on my car as well
I'd go with the DP W.o cat, but thats just my opinion. But i'd only do it if you've got a performance header. I've got a 2.4 ss and i noticed a bit of difference in acceleration with the dp/header and cat back. But dyno on tuesday after tune will tell me how big of a difference it has made

cam swap?

comp can grind you some cams for cheaps...but then you'd need all of the supporting mods.

and a smaller pulley.

and a tune.

why not save? you have to pay to play...

will the car pass inspection w/o the cat? I dont know anyone at the local garage, so thats not an option.

what kind of hp gain are people seeing with the zzp group buy header/dp?

car will pass emissions if you tune it right and trick the computer with 02 antifowlers and dummy sensors.

but to pass visual inspection i'd go with a gutted cat - same power gain, same nasty, raspy noise, but with less headache from garage owners.

i see that zzp has the dp w/o cat for 149. I suppose i could just keep the old dp and swap in for a day to get inspected.

has anyone done a dyno run to see what gains come from this.

Any other thoughts besides exhaust?

If no body else has any kind of dyno proof, i'll be able to tell you tuesday (Remeber that mine is a 2.4 not 2.0 SC) But nonetheless their will be gains. But like i said A DP/exhaust is only going to flow as much as the exhaust manifold will let it. if you're going to open up the whole exhaust why not get a header:-) Me, ppl will disagree, (But whats the point of tuning your car if your like everybody else) I got the gmpp performance (shorty header) They claim like a 30% air flow increase, but like i said i'll find out this week. Whatever you end up choosing, you really can't go wrong for only a few hundred

changing just a downpipe is going to be raspy as all hell, and sound like ass. if people say it sounds good with JUST a downpipe, or a gutted cat, then they like a raspy crappy sounding exhaust. and you won't really see any gains because the manifold is still restrictive as hell. if you're going to change just one thing i would change the manifold first. but in all honesty, i would just save your money, don't cheap out, because you're going to regret it in the long run.

Deff agree, Thats what i had said. change it ALL for performance. You're not going to see ANY real gains with just one or the other

Get in on the ZZP group buy...performance header with DP and hiflow cat at under 400shipped...with the cheaper setup, of course...

yea, im real tempted by the zzp group buy. anyone know what kind of dyno gain i would see w/ the mid length header/dp? If i see real (dyno proven) gains (~20hp) im in.

Im aware that a 2.9 pushes me to the limit of 42# injectors. I rarely take her to full throttle.

better flowing exhaust works to help keep engine temps down along with your other cooling mods. After I put a header and DP on my last balt it opened it up tremendously.

Right now we are at a 24% discount, and with I think 8 more people we can get an even BIGGER discount...now is the time bro...

BTW Im thinking about 15hp or so...
