^its because you have a freak motor, and a good tune, haha. to me it sounds like if you get the right tune, these cars can take hell, but if the tune is off, say goodbye.

I have been having the ott satge 1 kit on my car for weeks now and no problems at all besides clutch slippage. But what do you expect its the stock clutch. Upgrade your clutch, flywheel, and axles and you are good to go. Also if you live down south you might want to invest in the ott heat exchanger.

Been running my 2.6 setup for several months and I beat the **** out of it. Only problem I had was my clutch and that's now taken care of

so how come so many PPP are voting that they blew there motor but no one is explainin LOL. The odds are not looking good so far. Although I'd be on ott tune. I'm hoping it is safe for all seasons. But I rarely ever run my car hard. But I would like to run a decent track time this summer

its because they're running to small of a pulley on injectors that can't handle the airflow, and the resulting heat and poor tune is what is killing the motor. With the proper cooling mods and a good tune, you will be totally fine.

JKunzy, if you got a big front mount H/E, and ott's stage 1, you should be good. Thats probably the best canned tune you can possibly get.

i voted "blew my engine"

i ran a 2.6 w/ 60s, 2 step colder plugs, cai, & full exhaust for quite a few months on a shitty tune.... then i got a cobra h/e & option b........ then got a meth kit. went to go get dyno tuned.... i'm a retard and didn't have the meth kit wired right. so i was tuned for no meth.... drove home, drove around for 3 days and then my car started sounding like a Subaru. what happened was.... while i was driving around on the shitty tune with no cooling mods i was blowing extremely hot air into the engine... and then once i got a better tune the #4 was already crapping out and couldn't handle the additional power. by the grace of God i was able to return the car completely back to stock and got it warrantied. they replaced the sleeve & piston.

First engine
2.5" pulley, 60's, intake, full exhaust, option b w/ cobra he. Blew up on th dyno b/c I didn't know how to tune.

Engine rebuild
Ported head, +1mm valves, 262 cams, 10:1 forged pistons (diamond w/both coatings) .02 overbore, forged rods, neutral balance shafts, ported blower w/2.8" pulley. Cracked a cylinder sleeve. The overbore could have weakened the sleeve. I should have been running meth!

Blew mine on a 2.8/42lb setup with intake and catback on the stage 2 tune. Car had 12.x and higher afr after 6k rpm. Drove it for months not knowing it was blown. Found out it was, sprayed nitrous through the motor anyway and killed it completely.

Needed all new sleeves and pistons.

you're talking about my set up almost exactly. 2.8" 60#s exhaust blah blah blah

i've been beating the **** out of this car since the day i drove it home. I have blown one engine due to nitrous but that was on an otherwise stock car w/o any tune. kept pushing beyond what i knew was the safe limit, went lean and chunked the #2 and #3 ring lands.

Jkunzy1690 you will be fine. I havent heard of anyone toasting a motor on OTTP stage 1.

According to the build book the sleeves can handle 400hp if I recall correctly. Dunno why it cracked. To be safe I'll be going with some sleeves from Darton on my next build.

i'm thinking that the extreme mass of heat going into the engine combined with the extreme heat already in the engine... could weaken the sleeves, causing them to crack under pressure. but if everything is done right.... the stock sleeves can handle 400hp

but i wouldn't listen to me.... i really feel as if i'm guessing on that.

You should be fine but watch your IAT2's. If they start going over 140 and this happens on multiple runs you could cause piston/sleeve damage.
