What would this sound be

So I have a 07 cobalt ss supercharged and it's making a lifter tick noise but I read these don't have lifters and they have something I forgot what it's called and in a way they are lifters. From the video can anyone tell what it is. When you give it gas it gets louder. Had a friend look at the car and he said it's not the timing chain or a bad motor. He said it's some sort of lifter but he wont know until we dig into it more which will be in few days. What could it be and where should I look to get them. If I'm going to upgrade performance parts later maybe buy a upgraded performance/parts to fix this part. Links would be helpful.

The car is completely stock. I got if for cheap from an old friend so it will get a fresh cleaning inside and out and even the motor. I just got it and already did a fresh tune up on it. Once I fix this problem with the noise slowly I will be doing a turbo kit upgrade and make the car fun, faster and just do a shake down and fix everything to make it safe and last longer.

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me.

I agree with 5-speed. Inspect the exhaust from header back with flashlight. Exhaust leaks can many times be identified with a streak of black deposits that build up around the leak. You can also typically feel them poofing air but I would recommend only doing that from a cold start before everything gets piping hot.

I had same thing ended up being my cat converter that went bad. The ticking got louder and worse performance wise before I replaced it.

Bad cat converter. The ticking got louder before I finally replaced my downpipe. If you are upgrading anyway I just get a new downpipe installed from ZZP.
