I have the Injen, but I was curious what the benefits of a 3" intake would be seen over a 2.5"
I know more air flow blah blah...

dyno results?

^thats what I would like to know.

Type intake in the search button. There is tons and tons of information on intakes for the lsj. Infact, there is a thread dedicated to all of the different intakes you can get. Take a look at that.

Injen is 2.75"

I dont know who started the whole 2.5" intake nonsense, but all intakes for the LSJ (including stock) are 2.75"-3".

Actually, the Injen is 3" at the MAF sensor, and grows to 3" again at the rubber elbow right before the throttle body. The rest of the tubing is 2.75".

Nope.

I measured my Injen before I installed it.

I had a Rebel 3" intake on my car at one time, and I really didnt notice that much of a difference. The Rebel had a little more mid range though, but top end power between some of the intakes I've tried/tested (Air Box Mod, XTC, AEM, Rebel, Injen) all felt the same. A 3" intake is def. better suited for a car thats flowing a lot of air. A TVS car is a good example, or an M62 car with a "man pulley".

I run an ebay one with my TVS never had a sensor problem personally don't see the point of spending a ton of money on a mod that really doesn't do much

Lets clear up this size issue once and for all ....

3" Intakes

-Rebel
-OTTP
-ZZP
-RdFabs
-Fujita
-JBP
-XTC

2.75" Intakes

-Injen
-K&N
-E-bay
-Stock upper intake piping (even though its not totally cylindrical)

There are no 2.5" intakes for the LSJ. I still dont know where or how that rumor got started, but it is false. I measured my Injen intake before I installed it, and it was 2.75" at the inlet, expanded to 3" for a few inches where the MAF sensor is housed, shrank back down to 2.75", and then once again expanded to 3" from the inlet of the rubber elbow to the exit of the rubber elbow that connects to the throttle body.

I've had all sorts of intakes (3" intakes included) on my car, and they all did the same thing. Make my supercharger louder and gave me a little more power. Thats it. None of them were much better than the other performance wise, but fitment on some of them was sub par.

i got an idea les just super glue the fucken maf to the opening of the tb that will fix all the problems and it can suck all the air it needs use the search button so we dont have to see the same question and the same thread over and over and over again and then you can decide for yourself

Is that inside diameter or outside diameter that you measured?

Weapon-r SW - 3"

Researchs have proof that foam air filters allow more air than cotton filters like K&N, Injen, etc. Look for it.

I measured both inside and outside diameter. The inside diameter at the 2.75" inlet was only slightly smaller than the outside diameter (around 2.625").

It's really not worth arguing size though, because all intakes for the LSJ pretty much do the same thing. They will add around 7-9 hp on average, and will make the supercharger louder. That's about it. The rest is really up to personal preference, and which brand you like best. I tried a few different brands and finally stop wasting money once i realized there really wasnt much difference between aftermarket intakes.
