Where to put sender for water temp gauge
Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has installed an electronic water temp gauge in the 2.0L and where the put the sending unit? Or can the stock water temp gauge sender be tapped into? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I am weird always want to see the outside temp. Plus I prefer to have an analog gauge to look at out of the corner of my eye. It's a lot easier to see the position of the needle then having to keep reading the DIC.

Hmm... well... get over your addiction to the outside temp... put the window down... you'll know if its hot or cold immediately LOL. Seriously... I dunno anything about wiring a gauge.

The factory sender is right at the return to the radiator, NOT at the thermostat. I am fabbing an in line tube int the hose, drilled and tapped to take a sender (mechanical) in my case, as there is always some flow through the hose, it should see within a few degrees of cylinder head water temp.

I saw those pics in another thread, but everyone was saying that wasn't for the 2.0, just for the other motors?
I'll go take a peek and see if I can see those.
Hmm I looked everywhere (i think) and didn't see anything like those plugs. Where exactly is that supposed to be?

The cylinder head pics are for the L61. The cylinder head on the LSJ is very dissimilar (Alldatadiy.com). The back of the LSJ head is covered with the cam position sensor etc, the plugs are not there. I will be teeing off the oil pressure port (above the starter) for the oil pressure, M12X1.75 thread, and will be using a radiator hose adapter for the temp. You cannot tee into the factory temp sender for an electrical gauge, the resistance across the input of the electrical gauge will adversely affect the voltage the computer will see, and will alter what the computer sees.
Hope this helps

We do have a 1.5" radiator hose, correct? If so, I will just use this and get it as close as I can to the head and hopefully the reading will be pretty close.
