why is getting the pulleys off so hard?!?!?

so ordered my stage 3. installed the heat exchanger, injectors and have been trying to get the pulley off for three days. i tried a pulley puller from autozone, in hopes it would work.. not so much. i have heard of people using them and not having a issue. not me. next i tried some shops with a press.... no go there either. next i thought gm dealers install stage kits on cobalts they can do it. so i took it to the local dealership and they have had it for 7 hours and still have yet to remove the pulley. the shop manager told me it is a very hard process and it takes time because they were not meant to come off.... i replied with, why does gm sell stage kits then? he did not have a response... so now they will try working on it again tomorrow. i know i just should have bought the zzp tool to start. has anyone else had this issue with dealerships? i am pissed that i have been without a car for 3 days. tomorrow will be 4 days. are some years easer to remove for some reason? ok thats the end of my rant.... lol

It took me a socket, a press, and maybe 5 minutes.

You're dealing with ******* idiots.

Haha, didn't even realize whom you were at first. No problem man.

This press-

Hang the blower, pulley up, backside of pulley resting. Socket that's identical inside to push shaft out, have someone to catch blower. Success.

just wanted to make people aware that this is the ONLY way a press should be used in relation to the blower. you can't use a press to put the new hub back on without risk to the internals. only the stock pulley off.

Here is how the dealerships handle the Stage kits: They macguyver something.

Most dealerships don't have the proper tools to take the pulley off (ZZP and OTTP both carry tools that make this step easy).

I had one a press wont remove either. Had to cut a chuck out of it with a zip cut, then use a die grinder to get down close enough and use a chisel and split it. But turns out the shaft grew slightly from expansion and contraction as my car saw 2 Canadian winters with stock pulley on it and I ended up ruining my new pulley hub pressing it on because the shaft was too over sized. I recommend finding a used snout, ideally one with a hub in it. Thats what I did, pain free deal.
