will a tune fix....?
hey, im getting ready to get my car tuned very soon, i have a few concerns on what a tune will do for my driveability issues, now, i know when you add an intake it messes with the a/f, once in a while i get the dreaded hesitaion when punching it, or a bog shifting into second gear, now what will the shop do to correct this minor but annoying problem for me, i know they play with timing, and the a/f and maybe the maf settings but not 100 percent sure on the facts, any help would be great, thanks all.
Hey distillion. When it comes to tuning, a perfect tune comes from trial and error on the dyno. They will play with the air/fuel untill it becomes a nice "flat line on the chart".
I've also heard of people changing fuel delivery for 1st gear to help with the ugly 1st to 2nd gear changes we have now. There will be cosistent power through the entire rpm range.
As far as the bogging goes some people with perfect tunes are still getting it so it can't be air/fuel or anything. It must be dirty fuel injectors spark plugs or something like that, I don't know.
I need a tune too. I run lean to rich with what I have. It has to be the intake. A tune will take care of that. Check out my A/F. It stinks right now.

as far tas the boging, its only once in a blue moon, and i think its something to do with either the shifts or the heat, very humid over here sometimes, it seems second gear is very sensitive and if you dont shift perfectly at the perfect rpm you get at bog, my spark plugs are brand new ngkbkr7es and the fuel injectors are from stage 2, im convinced that it has to be the intake becasue when stock i didnt encounter this, like i said it only happens on certain conditions and isnt that big of a deal, but it kinda pisses me off lol
there has to be a way, i knwo guys 100 percent stock with this issue aswell which makes then cancells out the theory of an aftermarket intake??? its only second gear thats so sensitive to shifts, if a tune can fix this aswell, im happier than a pig in shiat!

DITTO!
I've been reading a lot about tuning the car especially after mods. I need to ask the same annoying question every thread has, will it void my warranty? I was looking at getting the stage 2 gmpp with a cat back and intake. Can I take the car to a tuning shop and have them alter the maps without voiding the warranty on the car? If it is voided, how blatant is it?

sorry CTCOBALTSSS
it will void your warrenty, but only if they look at the program, so unless your throwing some sort of code, or they decide to flash your computer with an update, they won't know the program has been changed.
as far as how much of your warranty is voided, worst case is your engine best case nothing if there reasnable.
as far as the bogging is concerned, I'm sure that being able to adjest timing, spark, fuel, and gap, that there will be a fix.

the programs have names and the tech 2 isn't going to recognize the new program.
I've already run into this, when they replaced my CAT.
they went to run the CASE relearn, and the tech didn't recognize the installed program.
the service manager called me right away, he was like WTF and it doesn't match any of the service updates. he asked if I wanted him to flash the latest program.
I had to tell him no, (my current program is partially helping out something I have I can say no more about that.)
so if they try to scan your PCM they'll recognize it.

I'm surprised it was noticable.
So he was just willing to reflash it?
Did he mention warranty by any chance?
I think he though I had a really old program,
but when I told him no,
he got all suspicious.
but he didn't mention anything regarding worranty.
tell you the truth, I'm not all that worried about the motor.
I'm more worried about all these little expensive electrical things that go and burn up.

yeah you do need to worry about that for what you wanna do, for me not so much;P
i think the only thing i have to worry about when it comes to tuning is spark plug gap according to mesiter, but that will remain to be seen when it comes down to it.
