will zzp's heat exchanger help me?

cars coolant temp sky rockets when I'm in slow moving traffic or stopping and going for at least 10 minutes. I've seen it hit 236..when I get back to cruising I'm back to 160-175ish. If I get the S3 heat exchanger will it help my coolant temps to wear they don't spike up near that much? I don't want to get something thats irrelevant to my problem.

no. the heat exchangers are for the supercharger cooling system. not the engine's.

Sounds like you have a mechanical problem. I drive a t/c but my coolant never goes above 205 or below 185, not matter how hot or cold, or how slow or fast.

all you really need to do is make sure your fans are coming on. the engine is designed to run that hot, it isnt really an issue. providing the fans are working, you really dont need to be too concerned. if it bothers you, turn the a/c on and one fan comes on, it will help cool it down. past that you could get somebody with hp tuners adjust the fan tables to get the cooling fans up to 100% speed sooner.

This seems like completely normal behavior to me. When you are in slow/stop and go traffic coolant temps will rise as you have decreased airflow over the radiator. The fans will kick on as prescribed by the PCM based on your ECT. Verify that your fans are turning on, but otherwise everything sounds fine.

My stock tune had the fans only running at 56% at ECT of 225 degrees. I have my fans set more aggressively since moving to a smaller pulley but it probably isn't necessary.

As others have mentioned the S3 heat exchanger is for your S/C, it does not affect ECT's.

I feel that's a band aid. My temps never got above 208* in either of my Cobalts. Sitting in traffic or even the Woodward dream cruise. Somethings not right.

my car in summer sitting it traffic would easily hit 110*c(230*f), however it would generally hit 103*c then slowly creep up, then the fans speed up enough to cool it down. in cooler temps it wouldnt get nearly as hot. its all in the fan programming.

Does the car leak antifreeze? You should pressure test the cooling system. It sounds like you have a leak to me. My temps never go that high. It rarely goes over 200.

On a stock tune the low speed engine fan doesnt kick on until the temp is at 223 and the high speed comes on at like 240sh

tune!!! my fans kick on at 196*, ive NEVER seen my motor get above 196 since the tune, ever. and ive had some 100+ degree days where i live. i also have a very agressive fan cycle, so my motor cools back down to about 180 in 5-10 seconds haha , always a good idea to check your intercooler pump because my motor was running about 5 degrees warmer when mine wasent working properly. good luck!
