this deal is for the heat exchanger only, there are some local guys that have asked for some help in fabbing and installing that we will be doing.

In all honesty besides making a bracket to fit the rest is cake, the HE will come with barbed adaptors for 3/4 hose or you can remove them and go AN up to you.

 

so it comes with all the necessary hoses for it just no brackets.

 

just the heat exchanger and the barbed adaptors. you can use std 3/4" heater hose or AN with braided, up to you, and you need to fab mounting... This is a great price for this part

Also, as cool as it would look to have the heat exchanger at the bumper inlet, the only problem is the car would only be cooled while it was being driven. If you really want something that functions well, your gonna want it higher up, so the fans will hit it when your in the staging lanes. Sure by the time you end the 1/4 mile it'll be cool, but once your sitting again, you'll just be heating up.

Sorry SS/SC. This heat exchanger is in my future but not my near future. I'm buying a 2.85" pulley and I have to get this car tuned before a H/E. So it looks like it will be spring time for me bro.

P.S. I don't know if you're familiar with Jannetty Racing in Ct but that's who will be tuning.

I've been back and forth talking with Ted. I plan on having him tune my car as well when I throw my 2.79" pulley on. When were you planning on going out there to get tuned by him? Maybe we could try and work a deal out with him to get better pricing. Let me know!

Yeah about $750 is what i'm being told, good lord that's a lot of money. I don't think i'm going to do that. That's way high plus he won't do it unless he welds a 2nd o2 bund into the DP. Riiiiight! I think not.

 

Have a wideband installed beforehand. You'll have to get a sensor welded in there anyways for that, so he can just tap the sensor and won't be able to charge you.

if i bought this i would be confused about the whole thing and wouldnt want to pay someone to install it. I wouldnt know where to start without instructions

 

I will probably do a how to once they arrive...but it is not that hard, you have to make a mount to bolt it in front of the radiator, most are using the impact bar as the mount base and then just run the line from the out of the stocker to the in on the new one and then from the out of the new one to the intercooler

 

Once you guys get this stuff ordered and installed please make a new thread with pictures of how you install it.
I have several questions:
How much does it weigh?
It's clear that this contraption cools your charge but how does it affect overall performance?
From an immediate, hard, 60-0mph stop, will the weight of the exchanger gradually force the bolts/screws/whatever out from the car?
Will the exchanger rust?
Is it possible to have an air-to-air intercooler work with a supercharged Cobalt or does that only work for turbos?

 

oh and btw, the CA heat exchanger uses a L bracket to mount that is all you would need for this also a l_ bracket and some screws and lines
