I have trouble seeing how this could help significantly.....
Air is passing through that intake quite quickly....
the small amount of heat absorbtion during that tiny transition would be miniscule....

obviously isnt gonna HURT, so if its cheap...why not....but the physics of it suggests your gonna get neglegable results...

That's why I do not have it. Rather look at shiny metal than brown rags.

you folks are right and wrong. No doubt a stock inlet system responds well to a reflective/insulated material covering it, also the fuel rail under the ecotec beauty panel at the front of the engine...here are the specs for you to consider: the choices are gold and silver i choose silver as the performance is slightly better and it costs a lot less. We redlines have a better stock intake than the cobalts, it is off a trailblazer....

The gold reflective film reflects up to 650 0F of radiant heat and has a continuous operating temperature of 450 0F. The film weighs about 5
ounces per square yard.
This film has a pressure sensitive adhesive that incorporates a fiberglass backing for strength and tear resistance. There is up to a 70 0F gradient temperature drop across the 1 -2 mil thick film during normal operating temperatures.
This film meets or exceeds the FAA 12-second vertical burn requirement.

SILVER
48x36 from DEI $72.00

the bottom line here has been correctly identified as heat migration from the rest of the under hood temperatures; you cant consider just one part of the equation and figure you are done. You have to look at option B reservoir and a larger h/e; under hood air release through venting; under car chin spoilers that help accellerate air out of the back of the radiator; and insulation both reflective for the inlet side and exhuast wrap on the header side. Practically speaking ceramic coating is better and more efficient than exhaust wrap, which is temporary at best. Check out Fireballcoatings.com they do an excellent job on the exhaust and for the show and go guys their silver stuff doesnt come off or tarnish much in high heat areas. I also suggest a black ceramic coating for the supercharger housing, this in itself doesnt do much but combined with all the other things it does help. if each of these individual changes make a small percentage improvement, then in the big picture you will get better results. GM did not paint the M62 black, the performance improvement didnt justify the cost. But neither did they put reflective film on the inlet. But the Cobalt race cars did...hammer down

i guess you missed the point...how fast do you want to go? how much money do you have?

Yeah hp = money, but that **** would be LAST on my list. Try having a wreck and list that on your insurance quote.

Personally I think you may be better served by using the header wrap for it's intended purposes and lowering the under the hood temperatures...
