ZZP Pulley Tensioner

Anyone know how the ZZP Pulley tensioner works? just bolt it on and it works fine? or do you have to adjust it? Just rather get this then grind the stock one to use the idler pulley? Or do i need both???

Thanks,
Ryan

It is pretty easy to install. I am also curious to know what setting I should have it at for my 3.15 and 2.9 billetflow pulleys. I know you need a T50 torx bit and an allen key for the other bolt.

Here's an image of what it looks like. There are 3 holes at the base, you adjust the tensioner to each hole for each indicated pulley size.

The "new tensioner arm" is the piece ZZP sells. Once you install it, you won't need a smaller pulley. Since repositioning the Factory Tensioner Shock on the Tensioner arm adjusts the distance of the idler pulley, this helps you run smaller S/C pulleys without the need to purchase a new belt or a smaller idler pulley.

The only thing stopping me from buying the tensioner is the fact that there is no notch to help relieve the tension. I installed one for a buddy and I had to use a pry bar braced against the engine to press it down. I swap pulleys regularly and this is a PITA!

Thanks...am I really your buddy?? (j/k buddy) I have an email out to ZZP to address this very issue. However, if you plan to keep the same pulley on forever, the tensioner arm works fantatstic. Sean, even you agreed it was a nice piece. I am even very impressed with the ZZP pulley itself!!

The dealer rounded off the head on my tensioner so I was stuck having to use a pry bar regardless. What I found that works is if you use the tensioner's hub (make sure its tight enough or it turns into a knuckle buster) to pry back the tensioner pulley. I may have to swap out pulleys myself, the ones from Billetflow are wearing too quickly when tightening the screws down.
