I just bought a ZZP Shorty Header and was wondering because its stainless steel if it would be better too powder coat it before installing too reduce the heat..?? Or can you just install it the way it comes shipped too your door???

 

powder coating will make it look good, that's about it. If you want to keep the heat that will be given off from going buck wild in your engine bay, then wrap it with some header wrap.

 

dont use header wrap, most companies wont warrenty a header if its been wrapped. what happens is you get moisture behind the wrap from heating and cooling and this moisture isnt able to escape, and it will cause the header to corode/rust.

wrap isnt needed, if your concerned about keeping the temp down get it ceramic coated

 

or just fabricate a heat sheild from some sheet metal

 

So there is no increase in power etc from ceramic coating/powder coating the stainless shorty header??? I am just asking for advise before I install it....Thanx

over a long time, yes. But probably not while you own the car.
