I am the one that races the ZZP shop '04 Redline. I have ZZPs shorty header, 3" ZZP downpipe, and ZZP 3" catback. No times yet, but as soon as the weather cooperates around here I will.

You make a good point there however, I want a cat. I want to pass emissions.

I noticed NO loss of torque, remember when you free up the exhaust that means you can run smaller pulleys and resist detonation. The smaller pulleys will give you a lot more torque. I ran 13.59 @ 104.2 with only 5 mods in a FULL Weight car. I do need to get to the dyno though(along with a aftermarket ECU) to get some concrete numbers.

Would this DP and cat bolt up to a gmpp catback exhaust. If i get the tapered down to 2.5in one, would there be any problems with leaks or anything like that.

i don't think there would be an issue with it since it's only 1/4" difference, just make sure to buy a good donut gasket to go between them, and not a 39 cent walmart special

edit: you might even be able to grind off some of the edge on the inside of the flange on the exhaust with a die grinder, so it flows through easier

I have Magnaflow 2.5 inch catback. I also am about to buy the Clear Image automotive header. It says its

"3" collector necked down to 2 1/2" to the flange, as opposed to the stock manifold with the four runners merginging together and no collector at all with a 2 1/4" outlet."

So If I where to purchase that Cat/downpiple would it work without the header? Would it work with the header? I would take it to an exaust shop, what extra work do they need to to do to get it to fit?

Downpipe loss of low end torque

I did notice a loss in low end torque when i installed this, i may have better top end power, but until i get rid of this dam whislting leak sound I cant tell, i dont want to get on the gas its so bad. But you need to break in the cat and then it will go away, seems to rev faster, and after the cat breaks in i will be able to tell better, the sound does get better the more you drive it though, hopefully gone in another 300-400 miles. Oh this was with a modded balt with stage 2 , 2.8" pulley, AEM CAI, GMPP catback.

love my downpipe. Bolted right up to the stock exhaust and manifold. I planning on getting there header and the gm performance exhaust. Yes mine made the exhaust louder but thats due to the fact I got the cat-less one. Thanks to hptuners I have no CEL

Did anyone else notice a loss in low end torque after the Downpipe install?
