Yes you need an adaptor to run the stock tb.
If you change to a 2.4 tb you need to get one with the same number of pins on the connector. I forget what year it changed but you will also need a tune. Won't run without one.

I too have been thinking about getting the 2.4 IM and TB, but I just want to know if my current CAI will fit on the TB?

Pretty sure all 2.2/2.4 intakes are interchangeable.

I'm not sure about 08 but the 2.4 intake manifold I bought from ZZP my 07 2.2 tb bolted right up, it has the correct holes just one bold goes in a different place (the 5 bolt holes on the tb and only 4 bolts)

my 06 TB had both bolt holes also, i went ahead and put the adaptor plate on though, the tb with out didnt sit right for me. just finished inatall, took aboyt 45 mins to do it and it runs great, idles better than before, while i was there i cleaned intake ports on head and tb. its raining here though so test drive sucked, tires broke loos at 40 in second, too wet outside. it pulls past 6 now no problem. bit louder also, TB and tune would make it better i bet but all in all im happy with it, i didnt notice low end loss either, maby tune/TB would make me notice it but it feels the same low end just pulles harder on top.

For the 08 cobalts I beleive you do need pin harness. I note sure if you need a spacer plate. ZZP's kit on there website comes with a spacer plate, LSJ TB, and harness. Just one question? Your sig. says 08 sport cobalt. You do realize your a 2.4L and already have a 2.4 IM.

I know thats why I said I have the 2.4 IM becasue my car is a 2.4 all I asked what why do I need the spacer plate? or JUST the harness. And yes ZZP has it for 129 but I dont see the point in the spacer plate. If I dont need it, Ill just get the pin harness for 40.
