this is funny, where did you get this mixed up info? did you assume this because the displacement of the base engine has bigger numbers? The 2.0 is stronger and should hold together just a little north of 300hp and the 2.2 just beyond 250ish. Rate of power delivery is a key factor in regards of how much power the two motors can hold. gradual vs. sudden surge. Its cool though, you didnt know

The GM Build Book for the Cobalt is based on a 2.2L motor. It immediately recommends nitrous and forced induction even though tuning is not available. I believe the displacement difference makes a big difference in why they used the 2.2L motor instead of the 2.0L.

Since the engines are so incredibly similar, I have to wonder why this matters. Really, who cares?
gm build book essentially uses both engines including parts list for both motors

WOW! another thread like this again? the LSJ is a better motor, they are simalar but the LSJ is stronger.

BACK ON TOPIC>>momo20, what are you tring to do? swap the motor or just the supercharger??? i think you will have a hard time cause there is no tuning for the 2.2 and you can't use the lsj pcm cause i believe it is linked together with everything in the car, is it not?? anything can be done, but i think you will be spending WAY to much money then it will be worth....

agreed... if you have the money and time to burn, all the power to you... but this is a hell of a lot of work, some of which you won't be able to do now
