2.2 to 2.4 Throttle body help !!!!!

I was going to install the 2.4 throttle body on my 2.2 today and do the Trifecta tune. I ran into a problem. The 2.2 TB has a 6 pin plug assembly and the 2.4 has an 8 pin assembly.

Does anyone know how to wire it.

The best thing would be a female to female adaptor so I could quickly change back and forth and there would be no wiring involved.

Please Help!!! Thanks in advance guys.

I checked on here and some have done it

I checked on this forum and some have done it. I talked to Vince before I ordered the throttle body to make sure he could do the tune so we should be all good.

Problem is NOTHING goes right seems like.

I may have to keep the 2.2 TB and do a tune for it instead. Unless two of those pins on the 2.4 TB are not used for anything and I can get an adaptor.

I think if you have 8 wires then it should be a simple install and of course you would have to tune it for the larger TB. PM me on it.

Vince can help me with the program but I have to put the TB in there and it wont work with 8 pins on the TB and only 6 on my harness. Those two other pins go to something and the harness wont fit.
It appears I am going to have to find a 6 pin 2.4 TB (Do they make them?) or tune for the 2.2 TB.

the year makes the difference, 06-07 2.2s and 2.4s share a connector, but I believe in 08 they changed it.

its a simple re-wiring. On the 8 pin, there are 2 low reference wires, and 2 5 volt reference wires. On the 6 pin, these wires are combined so there is only 1 of each instead. If you want to make a 6 pin connector, just combine them on your 8 pin connector (combine pin B and G, and combine pin C and H). If you want to make your 6 pin connector an 8 pin connector, just split the wires (i dont have the wiring diagrams for the 6 pin connector, so i dont know which ones to split)

or you could just do a little research for compatibility before buying random parts, I had to do the same thing because sometimes one year TB will be cheaper than another. mine uses the E67, so any 06-07 2.4 TB will work, but cobalts used two or three ECUs between the two engines and three years, complicating things greatly.

the E37 was the 07-08, not 06-07. the E16a was used for 05-06

my car is not a cobalt, on ions we had the E16 03-04, E37 05-06, and E67 07 2.2s and all 2.4s.

I had done some research

I had done some research but I did not know that there were different wiring.

Anyway Vince at Trifecta does not have the plug for it but he is helping me get it running. Great service from Trifecta and I am very impressed.
