Man , I thought it was North American

My last 3 S-10 models had it and on the disclaimer the trucks say what percent of the truck is made in the U.S. and only the tranny was foreign. I could only ASSume that it is generally American. At least I hope so.

The Ecotec line is manufactured in Tonawanda New York (2.2), Kaiserslautern Germany (2.0), and (for Saturn) in Spring Hill, Tennessee.

As noted on the vehicle content label on the passenger window when you purchased your vehicle the engine in ALL Cobalt variants are made in the Gold Ole USA. The only significant foreign content is the F35 transaxle in the Cobalt SS/sc

Not quite so. True the SS/SC transaxle is out of Sweden (Saab), but as 1/2 mentioned, the LSJ is assembled and shipped over from the GM facility in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

GM Opel in Europe has numerous ECO-TEC engines.(Ecology Technology) For the most part the development work for the ECOTEC as we know it here WAS engineered and first produced in Europe.

FWIW, The 2.2 engine was designed/refined by Lotus Engineering in the UK alongside GM of Europe for productionising the work.

Here on our "regular" fuel which is 95ron they produce the same power as you guys state in std form (and on premium 97 ron they make 1-2bhp more MAX).

The block maywell have been cast in Mexico but thats not nessecaraly where the engine was assembled.
the Tonawanda plant was the mean and nasty plant that put the tiny oil jet and crap tensioner into the first 10000 engines lol. That was a fun job changing the timing chain and oil jet etc in a car with no room to get to anything

i dont know about double the power.. however slightly more power would make sense, as they have less strict emissions policies overseas.
