i think that he means he's going get an ss/sc since the 2.2 will probably not ever have tuning options... or well i guess he cold just do an engine swap, with a 2.4 or a ss/sc this way the tuning is available.

07's might get lucky and actually get support from hpt. they use a more widely used ecm then the earlier 05-06 2.2's.

he would still need to findaway to tune it to make it run good... yeah you put a turbo on our cars... but you need a piggyback to dial it in, and even then its still pretty sketchy

Man I must really be starting to lose it.

07 LS ECU's I thought were already supported in other vehicles, I thought it would just that nobody had done it yet to the 07 Cobalt LS. Pre-07 LS' not being tunable.

So with that said, it doesn't sound like it'd be a very far shot to just tune via HPT as you would any of the other rides with the same 32-bit ECU?

Unless I'm just inept, I was pretty sure after all the days and weeks of reading that the 07 was gonna be an easy thing to do, i think i read a quote by the guys from HPT saying that it will be EASY, they just need somebody to drive to their shop and get a turbo kit......posssibly meaning, "Yea we can do it, just bring it down, we have used this ECU in other applications and this one will probably just be like the others."

???

not for 07's GM does not. I bet that'll be mid-way through 08. :-P

And actually, you can buy parts as long as its endorsed by GM, and if you have a company endorsed by GM install it, supposedly it doesn't void current warranties and will also, of course, warranty to new parts.

All i want is HPT tuning solution, I want to strap a GT28 to the 2.2 damn it! :-P I'd probably start out with a T3/T4 and do the GT28 after college. :-P

Do a search. Everyone on this site knows that there will probably never be tuning for the 2.2.

Thumbs down Don't Do It

That's for the Cavalier. Do a search. The part number you're mentioning is for a different car. There is no Cobalt 2.2 supercharger from GM. Back when I wanted to do the same thing, I sent them an email, and they said "no." Do not order that part unless you have a Cavalier. I'm not trying to be a nay-sayer; I'm just trying to save you a couple thousand dollars. There is no flash for the e16a. There is no flash for 2007. If a dealer told you otherwise, the dealer lied. Your source is wrong. You have to go aftermarket and find independent, custom fuel management if you intend to do this. It will violate your warranty if your motor fails as a result, so the procedure is risky. Please trust me. Do not buy this part because it is not for a Cobalt.

maybe we should check again. The chevy book at the dealer specifically lists the supercharger cobalt 2.2 through 05. 06 had a couple things extra which ruined that, according to the GM folks. I got the ECU change reasoning for the 07, as expected.

Has anyone bought the GM kit here? And owned a 5 speed 05 LS?

ok so my buddy says that the supercharger kit he was talking about is for the cavy but he says that the blower bolts right up and hes pretty sure that his shop will put it on and warrenty it, now for the flash code im gonna get a hold of the people at creat engine depot and see if they have even messed with the 2.2 cobalts if not im gonna get a stand alone ecm and program it with the bin program for the coblat and run it and if i **** something up i just put the stock ecm back on and bam instant warrenty

That kit is for the 2.2 ecotec 2003-2005 (non-cobalt). If you supercharge your 2.2 cobalt, you will not have an engine warranty.
