2.4 mani problem

Ok, so I tried to search but it wouldn't find anything for me. So I'll ask you guys here.

I've had a 2.4 mani on my 2.2 for about a year now, no problems with no tune either. So the other day a buddy of mine does the swap, and his CEL comes on. We check it and its throwing the P0171 code, saying its running lean. Would the 2.4 mani cause that? Thanks in advance.

hmm... I'm not sure about that. Is there an easy way to see if the maf has been damaged or installed backwards?

He should be fine. I drove for a year with an intermittent lean code.

If he gets a Trifecta tune, that should fix the code though. It fixed a couple of mine.

what are the advantages of running the 2.4 intake on the 2.2? By switching to the 2.4 mani could u still run a cai based on the 2.2?

my vote isss your moving in more air into the engine then what it stock would do thus making it run more lean(more air compared to the same fuel) i got that code too i dont think hes running dangerously lean by any means at all the computer is just picking up on it a tune will fix it but im sure your fine. it could be any one of what other people said too i suppose but from my experience thats what it was

playing it with :i dont think it is too lean: will get your nothing but a blown engine...
ANY lean is too lean unless you have a wideband and can check

i would check ALL fittings, and im willing to bet its the break booster hose, and then reset the codes by unplugging the battery for a few min...if it comes back then get a code reader and double check everything

? for you, what year balt and did you use/need an adapter plate for the tb???

2008 so no plate and i agree def check into it for sure always better safe then sorry i just freaked out when i got the code i took of the mani and reinstalled it about 3 times till i realized that just might be it. after a week or so it did go away but again every car is different and it hasnt returned since i had gotten my tune.

Although I vote leak too that is not entirely true, you can find a shop who has a snap on Motis or the previous snap on obd2 scanner and run it at different rpms with the scanner datalogging the afr's. As long as it isnt too bad and you reset your short term and long term fuel trim it should correct for the better flow but it wont if there is a leak because your maf is reading one thing and the o2 is reading something different.

I think there is something wrong here, I have been running a cat-back, CAI, and the 2.4 manifold for a few thousand miles with no tune, and no check engine light.
