2007 cobalt ls mods

i have a 2007 cobalt ls. right now its all stock except for a tip on the stock exhaust. i have about 500.00 right now that i can spend on my car, i was wondering the mods to start off with doing, such as an intake, then exhaust and that kind of stuff. i was wondering if someone could recommend the right kind of parts to buy and a link where to buy them at so i can buy them, thanks alot!

intake if you're looking at performance and springs if you're more about the show.

I'd agree with that too an extent, but even if he is looking more for performance, he still needs to lower it. I'd say intake and exhaust first, then if you have money left or can save for another month or so get some springs.

check out the classifieds, lots of good used parts. if you want a decent cheap exhaust look for a used ss/sc catback and throw on a nice glasspack like a magnaflow. also check out zzperformance.com, they have a few different headers. all exhaust parts for 2.0 will fit the 2.2. once you get more $ get a tune from trifecta/clear image at clearimageautomotive.com

nitrous would probably give you the most HP for the $ but you gotta keep refilling it... the stock intake in the 2.2 is not as restrictive as other cars, you can do the airbox mod for almost no money if you have the right tools, you'll just need to buy a cone filter. then you can spend more $ on exhaust which imo is way more restrictive than the intake and will give you better hp for the $. i'd hold off on getting a nice nice intake until you have the $ to do the 2.4 intake manifold swap. you'll get much better gains when you do them both together.

that is not an average result. a cai usually adds 5-10 hp and on average and extra 10hp will = 1/4 of a second off the 1/4 mile.

Rule of thumb is ~10hp knocks 1/10 of a second in the 1/4.Of course weight is a factor but 40HP will NOT drop your 1/4 1 second.

as i said earlier, YOUR results are not common. not saying it didn't happen, just telling all other 2.2 owners not to expect the same results.

x2, I would be willing to bet that 95% of the people who add just an intake only are gonna shave nothing more than .2-.4 at the most off their 1/4 mile time.

springs tint and a stereo is a good first mod, make it look good and then do performance... though stuff like an cold air intake is definitely should be one of the first mods.

Let me get this straight..so you throw an intake on your 2.2 and run .34 faster than a 2.4SS .... Stage 2 doesn't even make a seconds diff on the SC
