I drive a 2005 Automatic 2.2L Cobalt LS and im at 41,000 miles.

im just wondering what kinda advanced maintenance things i can do to make sure it is running as good as it possibly can.

sry if this is a dumb question but im not a big car guy, i just love to take care of my car and i want it to run as good as it can.

Use synthetic motor oil always.

Use top tier gasoline always.

You might want o change the spark plugs.

Change the air filter.

I had a transmission flush but it's not absolutely needed.

Trans fluid should be changed soon if not already done.
Check spark plugs, air filter, maybe fuel filter. Regular oil changes with good oil.

Not really much else.
Just listen and feel for any changes in the car later on and address anything right away that seems wrong. Letting it go may make the problems worse.

thanx for the input guys. ill definately be getting a new air filter for my injen CAI, i heard that AEM had a good dry flow filter, but ill have to read up more about that cuz i dont kno a lot about air filters. ill also have to read more about spark plugs to learn what kind i need for my car, and whats best for my car. and as far as a tranny flush goes, ill just have to bring the car into a garage cuz i have no clue how that works either.

I don't think that it needs the trans fluid changed, its supposed to be good to 100,000 miles by the book.

the 4t45e is a zero maintenance transmission sealed from the factory. its made to never need a tranny fluid change for the life of the transmission

however...if you DO decide to do a tranny fluid change...i'd get synthetic auto trans fluid while your at it. just note our transmissions hold something like 11qts

May be true the book says that, but I would do it every 40-60K at the minimum. More if you drive it hard or have lots of city miles. Theres a lot of crap that washes out in the fluid over time.

My manual fluid looked a little dark @ 18K switched to sythetic and its still new looking @30K.

remember i have a auto 2.2 not a manual 2.2, so is the 4t45e the same tranny as i have? im guessing it is since you have an auto 2.2 too.

I personally flush my tranny every 30k. I already did it one at 15k and put better fluid in it. Of course I have access to a trans fluid exchange machine so it makes it pretty easy.

Also I flush my coolant and replace my t-stat every 20k.

Replace my air filter with every oil change. Only use synthetic oil and oem a/c delco filters.

Every other oil change I clean and adjust my drums.

This isn't needed by any means but since I have access to an alignment machine and drive on rough roads alot I rotate my tires and 4-wheel align my car once a month.
