The Black painted pacesetter header are not intended to stay black, this will flake off. More to prevent surface damage during shipping. The ceramic coat will stay polished for years to come. It is coated to take the heat and will be a very nice show quality piece.

you know you can get that black wrap stuff for ur headers? I dont know what the tape is called exactly, supposed to absorb a lot of heat to keep the heat surrounding the header down a bit... hope that helps a lil

I'd stay away from the wrap. Yes ceramic is a lot better than any generic coating and it will stay looking good while reducing under hood heat somewhat. But, if you really want to do it right the first time, look into Jet-Hot. They quoted me $299 for Kooks Longtube headers for a V8, so it should be a lot less for 1 header which is smaller. They coat outside AND INSIDE the header. Under hood temps drop drastically and it will last forever. They offer a variety of coatings, dont know if black is an option or not. Just a thought. Yes its pricey, but if you're really into performance and show, Jet-Hot is where its at.

The header wrap will void ALL warrenty by Pacesetter as it does more harm to the header than good. I would suggest black, and settle for the bare metal look, or get a show quality peice and get the ceramic armor coat.

Here's a link to Jet-Hot's available coatings, and yes, black is an option: http://www.jet-hot.com/Pages/coatings.html

Like TurboTech said, stay away from the wrap. If you are only looking into this to keep with a color scheme, I couldnt justify the cost of Jet-Hot just for that. But if high performance and show quality looks is something you really want, then look into it. They will send you a quote along with video of the Jet-Hot process if you submit a request on-line.
