Any of my posts? First, learn how to use the english language, your grammar is terrible. Look at any of the threads that are about performance and technical information. Quadracer and myself were the first two to post preliminary dyno results and information on the TVS supercharger (very first was LSJwannabe). There was no reason for me to add tech info to this thread as it had already gone to hell. I save lives at work; what's your "slave" job, as your profile says? You want to keep making idiotic, misinformed posts and post a cryptic reply when you could have stated something straightforward, be my guest. From the poor structure of your sentences, I'm going to guess you're under the age of 20, most likely under 18

Served as a Heli mech in the Army 4 years, Air traffic tech for auto landing systems in the Navy 6 years (ET2). Worked for Nortel systems 2 year. Now I am an IT database specialist in a medical company 7 years. I have been around the whold 3 times. You aint got "poop" stains bigger then the **** been through. Do I have to keep dropping down to your level and fight this, yes! Because one thing I have not givin up yet is being a hard headed A-hole. I don't care if you pick on my bad spelling and grammer. I am typing with out proof reading.

To be a grown up again. I didn't want to get into a pissing match you both of you guys. I was only having fun on the newbies expence. If I pissed you off, I am man enough to tell you I am sorry. Other than everything I have said... I am still an A-hole.

Feel free to read through my posts, and particularly the threads I've posted. I actually take time to help the community. When I upgraded my axles/CABs/dual pass/HE/etc etc, I took the time to photograph and document every step, with the tools required, so that others may learn from my mistakes and save themselves time and money when/if they have to go through it

I don't ***** in threads, and I don't attack people needlessly.

What have you added to this community?

PS: It takes a lot of self restraint, to read your post about your life, not to rip on you. What almost 20 years of professional experience, with impressive titles, and you're modding an LS cobalt? I wouldn't brag about that if I were you

not a knock on the LS Cobalt, but the 40something year old man, sitting behind the computer screen telling the rest of us how insignificant we are

I added a couple of chat things... no, I am not as good as you guys.. Never will be as good as most of you. I am here to learn. I have have learned a lot from reading a lot of post. Most have been covered... but you are telling me, "back to this original topic" it's ok to rev your engine all the time... and it wont damage the engine? Ha... then I loose all respect on any post you have made.

Never said that, but 5k is no where near redline on my car.

So yes I can say that seeing 5k everyday will not harm my car in any way shape or form.

In a nutshell abuse = BAD
but that doesn't mean that 5krpm and then shifting is bad, no short answers

hug and make up, were both still ******** at the end of the day

So.... will running the car at 5K at every acceleration blow up the car... no. Will it cause wear on the engine faster... yes. How much wear? Well that is impossible to tell and also depends on things like, what type of oil he is using and how often he is changing the oil. If the engine would have lasted to 300K he may have dropped the engine life to 200K by being so hard on it, but then again... it is impossible to really say. Oh, and like others have said as well... he is killing his gas mileage.

If he runs it like he does, he should use synthetic oil to help reduce the engine wear. Same goes for the tranny, plus he should change the tranny fluid pretty religiously as well as the oil.
I agreed to this quote. I don't see why you guys are making a big stink of... This is true! I totall agree with rnjmur. It's totally logical. He's on spot... 100%.

You guys must have missed the part where I agreed with his qoete or you wouldn't be arguing with me about it.

didnt bother to read.... but for my example:

i have a 97 silverado with 225,000+ miles that was driven nicely all the time (it redlines at 4k) and my brother had a 01 silverado that had like 175-180K (when he got rid of it) and occasionally ran it to redline. both were maintained (regular 3K mile oil change + filter, air filter, trans fluid, etc...) and my old 97 ran stronger than his with almost 50K more miles

Alright, I may have said it wasn't the brightest idea to be doing this ALL the time.. but it's most definitely not 'beating the ****' out of the car..

If shifting at high rpms is 'beating the ****' out of the car then I can damn well guarantee at least a quarter of people on this website 'beat the ****' out of their car.

I'm almost at 200,000kms on my engine and Im still running strong with no problems ever.

I'm at 189,000kms right now.

PS. I redline my engine almost everyday.

I also change my oil and spark plugs more often than most people change their underwear.

If high revving was that bad our redline would be set at 4000 RPM's. They build stuff for higher rev's and more heat. Honda's wouldn't sell at all if high revving was bad. Bolo, I'm not here to pick but at least proof read a little bit, not everyone has perfect English and that is understandable. But sometimes people do get out of control.

The dealer shop guys will complain and claim that high rev shifting is not good for the car. I just took my car in today to have it covered under warranty for a bad syncro in 2nd gear. They asked me if I high rev shift and I told him that on hills, yes I do. (<-- I live in a very hilly and mountainous section of New York, so I'll shift from 1st to second quickly around 5,000 RPM's so I don't lose speed.) He claims that isn't good for them and they can tell when they take the tranny apart. Now luckily for me, he said he would push this thru to get it covered under warranty. BUT, he warned me that I shouldn't shift like that. He also said, "its your car, beat on it if you want!" I don't beat on my car, and I sure as hell don't want to cough up the money to fix some syncro's later on. So I'm gonna avoid shifting like that on the hills. High revving can't be that bad though, cause as I stated above the rev limiter would be set lower if that were true. So maybe I really had a abd syncro from the start; **** does happen.

But don't rip on the OP for his simple question. He is probably a young person new to driving manual. Everyone has got to learn sometime. I was lucky enough to learn before I even got my permit at 17

Yeah, I learned to drive manual on this car.. and I also think my syncro is messed up because even when I first got the car, 2nd gear has always been a pain in the ass to get in to.

I am also taking mine in, next week.

I also shift from 1st to 2nd very quickly, around 3.5k rpm though.. my buddy is the guy who goes around 5k.

I hate how some people on here are ******** when everyone had to learn sometime.

I had been drinking the "Jim Beam" for a while when replying to you the first couple of time. So I totally apologize for the rudeness of my answers.

Really, I agree with everybody else thou... I bought this car cause I commute 45 miles one way 5 days a week for work. With it's "more power then normal 4 banger", I really enjoy driving the car and like to punch-it from time to time. Hell, I snapped a lug-bolt off the front left wheel cause I was hitting turns too fast and too many time! This car makes my commute fun and I feel like a kid again, (to tell you the truth). My wife thinks I am an idiot for trying to make it like a "race car". Have to tune her ass out! (yes, if she was here I would not be talking like that.. P.W.) Ha!

I could see me driving this car for the next 10 years if I can get my "Rusty Wallace" foot off the gas peddle!!! Wife and I ain't gonna have kids, so any extra money I have... I can spend like a fool.

Now I am dreaming of a turbo and ground kit. I don't know why this car makes me want to spend money on it. It's like owning a boat! My Grand Prix is a gas hog... I let the wife have that! Her commute is only 10 miles.

Oh by the way, this site only makes my dreams worst! The more pic's I see and all the post of add on's. Man! Wifes gonna have to skip christmas this year! Muahahahaaha!
