Bad motor or cat?
Bad motor or cat?
Ok guys so I'm driving on the highway today and my car starts to sputter at high Rpms. I have a supercharged 2.2 that is still pritty freshly done. But basically my exhaust tone in a matter of min went quiet. Barely could hear it at all at even 3000 Rpms. Then I tried to pass someone but when I floored it my boost gauge went to 25 psi and my engine began to sputter out producing less power than it did at 3000 Rpms. My a/f stayed steady and my engine stopped accelerating past 4500 Rpms. So do I have a bad cat or could it be something wrong with the motor? It's a high flow racing solution cat, and I'm not throwing any codes yet. Any ideas?
Well I know the car wont pass inspection without a cat and if I'm not mistaken its a federal thing that we have to have cats. I may be wrong about that last part I'm sure someone can correct me. But I wouldn't run catless.
Sounds like the cat, just unbolt it from the header strap it to the side and go down the road. If it's the cat you'll be able to tell almost right away. I wouldn't drive to long with it plugged up could mess some thing up.
pulley size?
intercolling?
in WOT situation
it should be 11,X from 3000 rpm to 11,x 6500.
on cruise it should be around 14,6-15,2
anything over 12,3 is very dangerous for our ring piston. do not hold it in fourth gear
I have 65k miles, running a 2.8 with s3 intercooler, it's a bad cat the tuner told me today, unfortunately that 25psi for a few seconds did my motor in for sure
I'm gonna put her away for the winter and build a new motor for her
no compression test yet, but i heard the valves smack against the pistons because timing was retarded that much... I'm 90 percent sure it would have destroyed them if it hit the piston.
