best stage clutch for 2.2
alright so as you know I'm putting the TVS on the l61 I'm looking for a new staged clutch at the moment but can't decide. I've heard clutch master was a good choice for cobalts, but would like some more input. Also which one is compatible with the 2.2, the LSJ or the LNF

i've heard really good things about ky but as far as i know, they're only compatible with the stock flywheel. I would ask ttr about that. i personally have a exedy stage 2 with exedy lightweight flywheel, it grabs hard even 1st gear wot

personal preference. you could drop 15 pounds off your rotating mass if you buy exedy's lightweight flywheel. or you could buy a flywheel for 80 bucks brand new oem. i dropped as much as i could when i did my rebuild. i've heard a lot of people say that drivability with the lightweight flywheel is crap but i have no issues at all

yeah my brother went lightweight flywheel, and he notices sometimes not too much... But now I'm in the boat of KY or Exedy. Def going the stage 2 route so I may not get a new flywheel, just resurface mine.

To answer the question at the beginning, KY clutches do work with the exedy flywheel. I have stage 1 with the exedy flywheel. Feel isn't quite the same as stock (engagement is a little lower) and it takes a little while to get used to getting the car moving with the lightweight flywheel, but it's not too bad after it's broken in.

Ya, I've heard mixed results but from what I gathered its only for the non plus models. Something about the rivets letting go and causing a catastrophic failure... For the plus line they appear to be built better and apparently can handle much more than they are rated for. However I have driven a mustang with a 2+ and it was much different than the cobalts. Very loud and stiff. But, if the reviews are good for the KY's I'm interested how they would compare. In for more information.
