Best time to shift

Ok. so i have heard many things. Shift at redline shift at 6k. So what is the best to shift at. i alwas shift right before redline. Am i wrong

personally i shift at 7499rpm right before the cutout kicks in
but thats just me and my cobalt is sick as fffffffff

2009+ have the shift light. All years before don't have it. I believe the americans have it though for all years.

I would shift around 5750 or so since these engines mostly make noise from there (or thereabout) to cutoff. The power peak is below 6. That way the next gear would put you close to the middle of the power band, no? If not maybe shift around 6. Just experiment.

You really need to get a dyno and see what RPM's you drop off at. Then figure out if it's faster shifting earlier before the power drops and be lower in the RPM's going into the next gear or vise versa. That's if you don't want "guesses".

get a auto its shifts for you. Than you cant tell anyone you didnt launch right, or missed a gear or any bs like that

if your stock no its def not cause on my ls with intake exhaust i start to lose power right around 6200 just letting you know its usually like 500 or so before your redline point

You'll want to shift when a piston comes out and tells you to do so otherwise it's NOT ALLOWED until pistons come and and say shift in 20 seconds
